The countdown continues towards the March Madness betting tournament, and with the conference title tournaments right around the corner, there are teams still fighting for possession of the top seeds in their respective groups. No conference is tighter than the ACC where the No. 3 Duke Blue Devils and No. 6 North Carolina Tar Heels are tied for the top seed, and are set to headline this weekend’s list of games.

The rivalry between these two schools is as strong as any in college basketball, and Saturday’s chapter should bring with it even more excitement and intrigue. The Tar Heels enter this game looking for major retribution after they were stunned at home in an 85-84 loss in which Austin Rivers nailed a three-ball in the dying seconds to snap their school-record 31-game winning streak. However, as focused and determined as UNC will be, the Blue Devils will be just as hungry to lock up the top spot, and they should benefit from playing in front of their home fans at Cameron Indoor Stadium. That means this game should come down to skill and experience, and unlike in the first meeting Tyler Zeller and company won’t be letting this one go down to the wire as UNC take another step forward to living up to their price per head bookie status as preseason No. 1’s.

The second-ranked Orange won’t have to worry about giving up the top seed in the Big East on the final day of the season with a two-game cushion between them and Marquette, but that doesn’t mean that Syracuse won’t want to continue their fight for the No. 1 spot in the national rankings. The Orange have won nine-straight games since their loss to Notre Dame, and will be eager to prove themselves against the toughest competition they will have played down this final stretch in an opponent they beat by just one point in their trip to Louisville in mid-February. All eyes are on Syracuse in the Big East ahead of this year’s national title tournament, so expect them to continue to roll as they have all season as pay head favorites.

(12) Georgetown Hoyas @ (7) Marquette Golden Eagles

Any per head chance of the Golden Eagles catching Syracuse for the top spot in the conference ended with a 72-61 loss at Cincinnati on Wednesday, and now they will have to bounce back at home against a tough opponent in Georgetown just to hold down the second spot in the conference. The Hoyas got the best of Marquette in the first meeting between these teams back in January, but have struggled on the road this year with losses at West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Seton Hall, and there is no reason to think that won’t continue in another hostile environment.
