Newsday (TNS)

Colin Cowherd is leaving ESPN.
Cowherd has been a visible figure at the company since 2003, particularly on the radio side, and ESPN sought to retain him. But his contract was up and he likely will move to Fox Sports for a role that has not yet been determined.
ESPN president John Skipper acknowledged Cowherd’s pending departure in a statement to The Big Lead, which first reported the story, saying, “We’ve enjoyed a mutually beneficial run with Colin for over a decade. He came to national prominence on ESPN with his unique perspective on sports and society. Endings also bring new beginnings, for ESPN and Colin, and we thank him and wish him the best.”
Cowherd would be the third prominent, outspoken, highly paid figure to leave ESPN this year, joining Bill Simmons and Keith Olbermann.
Jamie Horowitz, the new president of Fox Sports, was Cowherd’s producer on the TV show “SportsNation” at ESPN.

Beginning of the end for these bastards. Glad to see them overpay for all these tv contracts.

Sportscenter has gone to unwatchable...Most of these guys want to be comedians...Silly ass commentary to there highlights..Sometimes the early edition of Sportscenter has some value with decent info but forget the night time shows.

He was a loser. Guy would never miss an opportunity to bash John Wall all stemming from him dancing before his first game. Wall had a great year this year but thats all he would ever bring up. Guy is a joke

Dude is one of so many espn personalities who know dick about sports. Much of the insight I read here on the forum is so more thoughtful, and thorough, than anything most of the espn clowns ever come up with.

do you know that for sure or just guessing? If he is independent, do you know which way he leans?

I don't guess and post just to put shit out there. I watch his show fairly regularly and he has stated he's voted for both parties over the years. Louie is also correct that he voted for the two best Presidents in his lifetime Reagan and Obama. There are many in this country who are not married to their party and vote blindly and loyally to party lines.

Cowherd says he wants liberals to think he’s conservative and he wants conservatives to think he’s liberal .
I have no idea why he wants that but that’s what he said .

He is voting for Biden but he is independent

  • Colin Cowherd has described himself as fiscally conservative and socially liberal. In the past, he has criticized the more radical groups on the political spectrum.
  • On the topic of religion, Cowherd has negatively compared the fanaticism in sports to religious hysteria. He has described himself as "essentially agnostic" on his radio show. He has said he doesn't like people promoting religious views through sports and that like the separation of church and state, athletes should be judged on their talent, not their beliefs.
  • During the NFL referee strike, Cowherd has repeatedly mentioned how he's "anti-union" and feels that most successful people aren't benefited by unions and that unions protect those who aren't as valuable to an organization.
  • Cowherd doesn't believe in salary caps and thinks professional sports are most successful when they are run similar to a free market, capitalistic structure. At the same time, he mentions that the NFL is close to perfect parity and that's a big reason why it's the most popular league in the country. He also said that while he's a capitalist, he understands the need for regulations and rules in business.
