JEWS FAVOR CLINTON OVER TRUMP BY MORE THAN 2-TO-1, POLL SHOWS

Jewish voters in the U.S. support Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump by more than two-to-one, according to a survey released Tuesday by research consultancy Gallup.
The survey, which used daily data collected by Gallup between July 1 and August 28, showed that 52 percent of Jews have favorable views of the Democratic nominee, but only 23 percen had a positive attitude towards the Republican nominee.
“Americans who identify their religion as Jewish, 63 percent of whom identify with or lean toward the Democratic Party, are more positive about Clinton than Trump, but Jewish views are by no means monolithic,” the survey’s author Frank Newport said.
“A little more than half have a favorable view of Clinton, and nearly a fourth have a favorable view of Trump,” he continued.
The only religious group showing greater support in the polls for Clinton over Trump is Muslims, who favored Clinton 64 percent to Trump’s 9 percent.
The poll results from this section of U.S. society are unsurprising given Trump’s controversial proposed policies towards Muslims, after he pledged to ban Muslims entering the country to deal with radical extremism following the San Bernardino shooting.
Catholic also viewed Clinton more favorably than Trump, by 45 percent to 33 percent and atheists or agnostics preferred Clinton to Trump by 44 percent to 19 percent. The only religious groups in which Trump came out on top were Protestants/other Christians by 40 percent to 35 percent and Mormons by 33 percent to 16 percent.
Trump has continued to use bellicose rhetoric on the campaign trail in regard to the policy area of immigration, telling an Arizona audience Wednesday that he will deport millions of illegal immigrants in the first hours of his presidency and will go ahead with building a wall on the border with Mexico. “We are going to take our country back,” he said.
After the Democratic and Republican conventions, Clinton extended her lead over Trump to double digits but some polls have showed that he is slowly narrowing the gap. A Fox News poll released Thursday said he is now only two points behind Clinton nationally, 41 percent to 39 percent.
There was further bad news for Clinton Thursday. A Washington Post/ABC News poll showed that 56 percent Americans have an unfavorable view of her, the worst rating she has attained in her long career in American politics.
But this is still better than that of Trump, who earnt a 63 percent unfavorable rating, showing that the two candidates are some of the most unpopular in U.S. election history ahead of November’s vote.
