You guys can call Blatt an idiot all you want, but it's one of the assistant coach's jobs to make sure the head coach is fully aware of the timeout situation.

Someone dropped the ball here, but I don't think it was Blatt.

At least at the NCAA level, there is an assistant coach assigned to check the timeout situation with the official scorer after every single timeout, and make sure
the team's records are in sync with the official scorer's tally. Then they are supposed to make sure the head coach and all players know what the situation is.
I'm guessing it's the same delegation of duties in the NBA.

Are you joking? That mistake is on the head coach.

I'm telling you what I know from personal experience troll-boy. I do the official scoring for 2 different NCAA basketball teams, and at that level, it's an assistant coach's
responsibility to inform the head coach of the timeout totals periodically throughout the game, and especially during each timeout.

Any more questions?

It's like that in the NBA too. Tyronn Lue is the guy with the responsibility. Who knows if he told him or not, or maybe he did and Blatt got swept up in the moment.

Doubtful he is gonna throw an assistant under the bus after the fact. Especially since it is a non-issue since they won.

No questions.....just laughter. Seriously, go see if a Muslim is trying to fuck a transgender. That's more your speed.

I think there is a reason Blatt said " I almost blew it".... Blatt is a total fool and is lucky he didn't cost them the game and probably the series.

Your repeated trollish attempts to derail threads in here by inserting Muslim/gay/transgender/political issues have been duly noted.

You've been taking an epic beating in here today, maybe you should take the rest of the day off?

Taking no such beating. Just idiot cult patriot fans defending their master and reason for living.

The head coach calling a timeout falls directly on him and not the assistant. To suggest otherwise is plain idiotic.

like your " poker fraud" and here all day nonsense in every other post? Not trolling though huh? Idiot.

What if the assistant told him they had a TO or didn't tell him they're out? You think that would be his fault?

Even if you think he is an idiot for other reasons, do you have any idea how mentally engaged he has to be in the game and he doesn't know the TO count off his head....

In my experience, most if not all head coaches don't even bother to try and remember the timeout counts, they rely on their assistants to keep them informed... I know you already know this - but Vitterd clearly doesn't. Now that it's been pointed out to him, he won't admit he's wrong, he never does. But that's what trolls do.

Obviously by Lue reaction....he didn't tell Blatt they had a timeout left.

Yes, he's paid to be able to manage more than one task. Can you remember any head coach doing that before in nba history? I can't. He has to know they have no timeouts....the players knew and the asst coaches knew....he didn't and that is on him.

OK, I get it... trolling again. You don't even bother trying not to be obvious about it.
I'm embarrassed that I even respond to your blather.

Total and complete nonsense. Do you ever play sports on any level? I've never had a coach that didn't know the timeout situation late in games. Never.... Not one.

Maybe they told him, I dunno. If they didn't tell him it wouldn't be his fault.

I think he probably screwed up and forgot but now that they won the game it isn't really going to blowup into an issue. Not like he is gonna say "Yeah Tyronn Lue needs to communicate that better so I don't look like a jackass out there, he really fucked up"

It was pretty clear everyone knew. Players and coaches.....all except one. Hey, he fucked up, but trying to pin any of that on an assistant is ridiculous.

You're a liar, and you're ignorant and uninformed, and clearly you are talking out your ass on this one. I sit at the scorer's table all season long, NCAA level - I see head coaches ALL THE TIME
not know the timeout situation, they're constantly asking the assistants - HAPPENS ALL THE FUCKING TIME.

I was nominated for senior athlete in high school, and played college division 1 tennis. I have also been playing city-league basketball for 30+ years. Any more questions ass clown?

Yeah just reading some quotes I think he was told and just fucked up. Just saying the assistants are the ones who relay that stuff to the coach.

You got fulls, 20s, TV timeouts.....It is a lot to keep track of during a critical playoff game.
