What the hell does being born poor matter? I was in college with a guy from Georgia (former USSR territory) and he pledge our fraternity, worked 35 hours a week, graduated in 3.5 years with 2 degrees (accounting and logistics), got a full time job, became manager in 2 year, payed for his parents to move to the US, pays for his sisters college expenses, etc He makes a shit ton of money...but he must have been full of it and just inherited his weatlh. As punter just told us, if your wealthy your lucky and inherited it.

The rich do have some serious advantages. They go to better schools (not always on merit) and their social circle is richer (and networking is the #1 factor in getting jobs or finding opportunities)

Now getting back to topic, I truly belive if that money that goes to the lower 95% would rather go to the top 5% most of the Reps would have voted for the bill, no matter the amount of pork in it

Do they have advantages? Sure, but they created (for the most part, not 100% here) their advantages. Nobody said you couldn't send your kids to a better school, be in a wealthier social network, and make a million a year. Its called hard work and determination.

Turn Rush off and look around.

punter, i dont listen to rush. i have this thing, its called a job. maybe you can look into it. also, i dont understand why you and the rest of the hard-core extreme lefties bash him so much. you (and the rest of the left) identify with with so closely that the resemblances are uncanny. slightly overweight, drug abusing, viagara popping, loudmouths who want to avoid taxes and think that their word is gospel. sound familiar?

Punter (for the most part again, not 100%) why do you see alot of Indian/Asian doctors, lawyers, successfull business men/women? They didn't run with the "rich folks". Damn sure didn't inherit anything. So why do you think the make alot of money?

Ok give an example of when a total unfettered capitalist system worked for lets say 20 years.

you're wrong (again). The only people in India and most of Asia who can afford the cost of living in the US, never mind Medical School, are from the wealthiest echelons of their society.

Explain to me about class mobility. There is lots of empirical evidence you can use to make your point, rather than the meager anecdote. I think, though, that you'll be surprised to find that those who have the money in the U.S. tend to keep it and those without it tend to stay without it, despite how long, how much, or how hard they work. You'll probably also be surprised to learn that the working classes in Canada, the UK, France, and Germany are more likely to move up in class than their American counterparts. But go find the data for yourself. I dare you.

I'm counting how many times righties devolve to ad hominem attacks rather than offer evidence to support the normative claims they dress as empirical facts.

for someone who corrects others grammar, maybe you can tell me what a hominem attack is. also, maybe you could tone down the vocab. im sure its getting hard for obama voters to follow
