Spiller's to lose, not Fred Jackson's.
Earlier this month we heard coach Chan Gailey was not going to give Spiller a major role until the sophomore back improved his blocking and ball carrying. We're not quite sure what's changed over the last three weeks, but it appears Spiller now has a leg up on the veteran Jackson. Things should become more clear over the next three preseason games, but you now might want to think long and hard about picking Jackson ahead of Spiller.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Jackson is coming off a 22-touch game, but Gailey feels the need to feed the beast. He sees the Eagles' 30th-ranked run defense and knows the Bills can pound the rock Sunday. Our initial Season Pass rankings have Jackson as the No. 5 running back play in fantasy this week.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Spiller is still needed at receiver after Donald Jones went down with another ankle injury on Sunday, but he's needed even more at running back with Fred Jackson dealing with a serious calf bruise. Regardless of what position he plays in Week 12, Spiller should still be heavily involved in the Bills' passing game, and will remain worth a flier even if Jackson is active.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>That was quick. We were surprised when Jackson was ruled out for Week 12 just four hours ago, and now his season is over. It's incredibly bad luck for the No. 3 overall fantasy back through the season's first ten games. Jackson was hoping for a raise after his breakout year. Instead, he's now more likely to have to play out the 2012 season for his $1.83 million scheduled salary. Fantasy owners that were quick to pluck C.J. Spiller off waivers today now have themselves a starting NFL running back. We'll see how long it lasts.
