A violent night in Cincinnati left 17 people shot in the span of an hour, police said.

Ten people were shot on East McMicken Avenue and Lang Street in Over-the-Rhine, four were shot on Chalfonte Place in Avondale, and three were shot near Lincoln and Gilbert avenues in Walnut Hills.

Assistant Police Chief Paul Neudigate said there may be four fatalities as a result of the shootings, WLWT reported.

"These all seem to be separate, independent incidents, but horrific and tragic that we have this much violence and potential for that much loss of life in our city," Neudigate said.

The violence comes a day after another shooting killed 17-year-old Aurora McCarter. Police responded to reports that someone was shot on the 3400 block of Bassett Road around 11 p.m. Friday. The victim was rushed to Mercy Health Queen City Medical Center, where she died.

Like many other law enforcement agencies in the wake of the death of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man who died while in police custody in Minneapolis, the Cincinnati Police Department faces calls to cut its budget and make changes to its city charter.

An amendment being considered for the ballot in November would replace police with a "public safety department" that would only arm officers responding to reports of violent crime, WCPO reported.

Democratic run cities are falling apart all across America.......

errr, have fallen apart.

There is no civilized morality left in those communities. "Though shalt not kill" is just the first of the Ten Commandments that were the underpinning for the foundational principles of this country. The other nine Commandments mean nothing to these people as well.

Civilization is crumbling right before our eyes.

The sickest and saddest part is that nobody wants to do what needs to be done to reverse the very frightening pattern.

Even the most "conservative" big cities are just centrist. There is really no conservative mirror image of San Fran or Seattle that I know of.
Most bigger cities in Texas are pretty centrist with the exception of Austin. Arlington, Fort Worth, San Antonio, Corpus, El Paso.
Houston and Dallas are trending left but haven't fallen completely off the deep end (yet).

Beyond Texas I'm not sure. Phoenix? Indianapolis? Vegas?

Democrat cities. Let them rot. The media and @TheDemocrats
have activated this mental illness and it’s going to get more and more people hurt and killed. #WalkAway from the radical left. “

I always stay in Covington when in Cincinnati. But it has some problems as well. Some super nice blocks right next to the shitty areas.

It’s becoming a joke here. Did you go to OTR? Casino in a ok area jist watch your back now since all this ahit has hit the fan.

The area with the stadiums are is nice, but more shootings than usual. Downtown becoming the downtown of the 90’s. Sad. Was hitting a turning point.

Covington’s a shit hole. Haha. Right along the river not to bad, but a very different crowd for sure. Walk south in Covington a few blocks and get the full Covington experience. Drugs are running rampant here again. Disaster

Yeah, probably just like the fact I can park in that parking spot near that hotel and breakfast spot right next to the bridge and then walk to Great American Ballpark. Parking is like $10, you gotta pay $40 to park that close near Wrigley during normal times. Come to think of it, last time I was there this homeless guy wandered into the street stopping my car as I was pulling into the Marriott and I had to swerve around him. lol

we stayed at hotel covington...nice little area all around there. we drove in from my wife's friend's house in carmel indiana. I was a big fan of that whole area. we go to nola about 5 times a year so I'm used to the nice/sketchy bundled areas.

I couldn't believe there was no alcohol after 10 there. in a casino especially...but the covington bar we went to is one of the best bourbon bars in the country and was open til 3.

Nice little hotel. Not into bourbon. That area isn’t bad. Braxton brewery is right there and we’ll as Agava and Rye. Decent food.

Yea the governor is ruining the state. How the hell did you get bourbon at 3am? Ky and Oh shit shit down at 10pm because Covid. Hopefully that ban is lifted soon, then it’s back to 2.30am
