I am in CL fantasy league and i need some help.

Who are some good players that i can choose for my fantasy team that arent too obvious.

Just a quick hint usually players who get alot of touches are better (i.e. you want guys who take free kicks and other dead ball situations.)

I am looking at forwards and midfield

thanks again

Silva (valencia) and Renato (sevilla) are a couple of solid forwards

Listen to MrCleo. Those are two excellent picks right there!

Also Nasri (midfielder) at Marseille, Rocchi (striker) at Lazio and I'd take anyone in the Roma midfield/attack. Aquilani is on fire, Mancini, Taddei, Totti, De Rossi...

Torres , kone, adebayor
ronnie, kaka, sneijder, essien, renato
naylor, o'dea
dida

that looks like my line up for now, but im not liking it for some reason.

any reccomendations up front im not sold on adebayor but i think he is in an easy group

i can always make changes but there is a cap on points so its tough to fit everyone in

presumably you want guys that will go deeper into the tourney, so consider that. Dani Alves (Sevilla), although probably obvious, should pile up points as a defender. He is the most likely defender to score and is the most "positive" defender in the world right now.

David Villa takes all of Valencia's dead balls, which is both good and bad as it means he takes their corners and isn't likely to score on one.

Robin Van Persie takes most of Arsenal's close range free kicks, again, not really a sleeper or anything though. Freddie Kanoute up front might work, Sevilla should advance and he is one of their few scoring options (Renato, previously mentioned is good too).

Rhinooo is right on about Roma's MF, they bomb forward like crazy. DMMD and Cleo also have good suggestions. Deigo from Werder Bremen is a thought too, but they aren't what they were the past few years.

I have to figure out a team myself.

It doesnt matter how far they go
because after the group stage i am allowed to pick a whole new squad so I am not worried about them making it far

also I am capped with 2 guys per team so with renato and kone i cant choose alves who i was looking at

Plus i dont want to spend any points on defenders because unless they score all they can get you is a clean sheet and you shouldnt spend lots of points on a clean sheet.

I am thinking of grabbing a roma midfielder from some of your requests i think their group is weak enough. So i am going to have to play around with the numbers

don't you have to draft a starting lineup? Alves will score you points, whether with assists or a goal, I would be surprised if he doesn't get one or more.

I don't think its a good choice to take a defender in a fantasy league, no matter how attacking he might be. I mean Alves only scored 5 times in 45+ games for Sevilla last season.

Some under the radar choices;

-attacking mid Alex de Souza from Fenerbahce. Has racked up 58 goals in his 94 appearances for the team.

-striker Cristiano Lucarelli from Shakhtar. Was a beast for his hometown Livorno club (92 goals in 146 appearances) before he transferred this season.

assuming you are picking from teams expected to go deep in the tourney you have to avoid Alex as Fener, and any other Turkish team for that matter, will exit early. If you are able to change lineup later on in the tourney then he's worth a shot.

I'd look hard at Wesley Sneijder of Real Madrid. The offense really seems to be going through him and their group (werder, oly, lazio) will leak the goals.

For the same reason I'd avoid too many Sevilla players. Their group is ultra defensive and you'll be counting on them to go dep in the tourney for scoring.

I like the form of Villa and Morientes on Valencia and they should pop in plenty of goals against RBK and Schalke. Chelsea, and all Eng teams, never travel well to Spain so can pile up the 1st round points IMO

Agree with any MF on Roma. They are in huge form and have a group that should give up many goals.

He also had 16 assists. I am assuming you have to pick a starting lineup and that you get points for assists. If not, then don't pick any defenders. He may be too pricey, but from my experience the big team players are more expensive and he may be reasonably priced depending on budget.

Schalke tied for the best defensive record last year in Germany. I don't see Valencia having a goal fiesta in this group.

I would definitely find a player on Madrid as they have the easiest group to rack up goals.

I'd think twice about Torres, don't see him playing all the matches with the surplus of strikers on Liverpool. Plus their opponents aren't known for open attacking football.

yes but Schalke's losses are showing this season as they've conceded in all 5 matches domestically and I think Valencia are good for 4 against RBK. Just some thoughts certainly not going to argue about someone else's fantasy team :)

Think about Almunia in net for Arsenal. He has been playing well and Arsenal have a very easy group. Just make sure he is starting and not Lehman.
