Getting killed on these 2nd half bets. Not even getting bad beats, just making the wrong plays. Time to get back on track.
British Columbia Lions -4 (-110) -- 2 units: See Coaster's post. Also, whenever a team like the Tabbies, with zero run game, goes into BC to play a 10pm Eastern time game, you have to like the home team. Lots of momentum for the Leos, whose secondary looks more than up for the challenge that the Tabbies' pass game will give them. Jonathan Brown really starting to look good up the middle for the Lions who needed help up front. Meanwhile, Hamilton is struggling, unable to do anything against a vulnerable Montreal secondary.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers +1 (-110) -- 2 units: Why not? You really have two teams going in opposite directions here. If this game took place in Week 1, you'd probably see Winnipeg -3 or -4. I think the Bombers are finding their groove offensively, both on the ground and in the air. Jyles is settling in as the starter and doesn't have to look over his shoulder for the rest of the year, because this is his team. Toronto's on a slide, and without their best player (Boyd), I think Winnipeg is the right play here. Toronto falling back down to earth after the season high that was a win against AC's Alouettes.
Baltimore Ravens -1.5 (-110) -- 3.5 units: This is a complete mismatch on both sides of the ball. I think you have to give the Jets' #1 ranked defense a little credit on slowing down the Ravens last week, but it's clear the potential is there for this offense to explode. It will take more time, and perhaps a game against an overrated defense that was picked apart by Tom Brady last week. While the Ravens don't quite have the same high calibre offense as the Pats, they aren't that far behind. Defensively, the Ravens will eat the Bengals alive. Cincinnati was completely inept against the Pats, and frankly, their team total was flattering and not indicative of their performance. I don't care about the short week bothering the Ravens when you're only going into Week 2.
