I have sources extremely close to the Cedric Benson situation. What has yet to be reported is that he broke into the apartment, for which he has already been charged, in search of secretly recorded tapes in which a teammate says that he allowed Cedric and another teammate to have sex with his girlfriend after she had passed out after a night of heavy alchol and drugs. (That sounds like rape to me).
Most of the team and the police already know about the tapes and are keeping a very tight lid on them. The tapes are currently in the hands of the victim's attorneys and have not been turned over to the authorities. (Lawsuit, I wonder?)
I would think that this would qualify as a mega distraction. This story may or may not be released before the game Sat. but it will definitely come out soon.
