r1: vino classico. kerwin john will never be confused with jerry bailey, but he can ride, and has booted home some longshot winners in socal. 'classico has that one-paced style that should make two-turning right up his alley and none in this field of 25k maiden claimers will ever be confused with secretariat. that said, i'll take the price and play 'classico.

r6: fabulous west. this field of older maidens didn't come up all that strong for the level and fabulous west looks all set to stretch out and win from the rail. mr greeleys aren't that well known for the stamina, but a mile should be right up this one's alley, pressing the pace from the inside.

r7: pinkhair. don't have any idea what kind of price will come with this five year old import, but i'm hoping for better than his 3-1 morning line. 'hair has faced moderate company overseas and will likely fire his best shot first off the shelf.

r9: general money. bit of a stab in the day's finale, and hopefully, i'm alive in the pick 6 to root this one home. 'general is also a stretchout play for the seldom used daniel vergara. bonus moneys should go better with distance and at 15/1, hey, he's worth a small play in this listless cast.
