Carib has lines on "Will Kobe Be Charged?"

TTinCO,

Do you know this for sure or have any inside info since you are from Colorado? Or is this just completely off of Carib's changing of the odds?

Thanks,

TtinCO, weren’t you the one the that was saying a few days ago that there was absolutely, positively, NO WAY this case goes to trial? Kobe’s attorneys will dice this young girl to pieces…etc.

Now you’re saying it’s a "LOCK” Kobe will be indicted? Why the radical change of position here?

that might have been me who said there is NO WAY this case goes to trial - and i will stand by that. if/when kobe has charges filed against him that does NOT mean this case goes to trial - because it WON'T! as i have said since Day 1 - there is NO WAY this case ever goes to trial and NO WAY kobe ever gets convicted of anything!

If Kobe is indicted, then this case MUST go to trial. The only way to avoid a trial would be if Kobe cops a plea to a lesser charge. But the lesser charge would certainly be a felony. I seriously doubt Kobe would want to wear a 'sexual predator' label for the rest of his life.

And TTinCo was most definitely saying that Kobe NEVER gets indicted. So he has changed his position. why?

Slouch, I wouldn't call it inside info, but there are a lot of people who seem to know a lot more than has been made public.

Suet, I expected it to go to trial-and depending on what the lawyers can introduce regarding the victim, her credibility will take a beating.

Suet, I've "thought" all along that he would face charges. In fact, I started a thread across the street last Friday titled "Kobe Bryant will face charges".

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant will likely be charged today in connection with sexual assault allegations, the Vail Daily has learned.

District Attorney Mark Hurlbert said in a written statement he will announce his charging decision at 3 p.m. today during a press conference at the Eagle County Justice Center.

No specific information was available at press time as to what those charges will be.

Felony sexual assault, the count on which Bryant was arrested July 4, carries penalties that include stiff prison sentences. Class 3 felony sexual assault carries penalties of 10 to 32 years in prison. The more serious Class 2 felony sexual assault carries with it a prison sentence of 16 to 48 years, according to state law.

Hurlbert said Thursday that he had informed the alleged victim of his decision. The alleged victim's family referred all questions to the District Attorney's Office. In a written statement Thursday, Hurlbert said there would be no other information available or comments until this afternoon's press conference. When reached Thursday night, he reiterated that statement.

Bryant is accused of felony sexual assault, stemming from allegations that when he checked into the Lodge & Spa at Cordillera, on June 30, he or someone in his entourage summoned a hotel worker to his room and he sexually assaulted her. The 19-year-old Eagle County woman reported it to around noon the next day, July 1.

Georgetown attorney Rob Wheeler, a former prosecutor with the District Attorney's Office, confirmed Thursday night that he had been retained by the alleged victim's family. He made his first appearance at Thursday's hearing at which the Vail Daily argued for dispatch records to the alleged victim's house.

Bryant, a three-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, surrendered to authorities July 4 after Eagle County Sheriff Joe Hoy issued a warrant for his arrest.

The five-time All-Star was in Colorado for knee surgery at a Vail clinic. In his only public comments on the case, Bryant told the Los Angeles Times he "would never do something like that."

Bryant's attorney Pamela Mackey has repeatedly asserted that her client is not guilty.

Bryant attended the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday, but he avoided the media in his first public appearance since his arrest. He sat in the audience smiling and laughing with his wife.

Bryant would have to return to Colorado on Aug. 6 to hear the charges against him.

Details of the case have been sealed under a court order.

Authorities have said both Bryant and his accuser went to hospitals after the alleged attack for tests.

Sheriff's deputies took Bryant to Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, about 40 miles west of the resort, early July 2.

Sheriff's investigators didn't reveal his arrest until July 6, two days after he posted $25,000 bond.

KUSA-TV in Denver reported that Mackey was on her way to Los Angeles.

Bryant has been one of the elite players in the NBA since entering the league straight out of high school at the age of 18. He starred when Los Angeles won three consecutive titles from 2000-02 and was the MVP of the 2002 All-Star game.

He met his wife, Vanessa Laine, in April 2001 and the two were engaged while she was still in high school. Their first child, Natalia Diamante Bryant, was born in January.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Okay, TtinCo, my mistake. I understand you now. If/when Kobe is indicted, then his attorney(s) will dice this young girl up, based on the fact she has a sordid past, right? I still don’t she how she could have developed such a blemished past at the tender young age of 19….and living in Vail?

I think this whole case is really in her hands, whether she wants to actually pursue this thing. No way a district attorney, on his own volition, refused to prosecute a rape/sexual assault charge against a high profile figure like Kobe Bryant.

TTinCO,

I gave it a shot that Kobe will be charged today. The max bet is only to win $50 if he is charged. The current odds were -185.

I have taken a beating the last 2 playoffs by the Lakers whether I bet on them or against them they always seem to screw me. So i hope Kobe is charged today as a small matter of revenge for a bitter bettor and fervent Laker hater.

What a disgrace that Kobe would show his face at espys. Also this Mackey chick isnt the superstar attorney everyone makes her out to be, attorneys are overrated in general.

Ttinoco-

In all fairness the overwhelming majority at MW is pro homosexual, so E.d. does make a good point.

Legal expert on ESPNNEWS predicts Kobe will be charged since his attorney flew to LA yesterday. Thinks they wouldn't have gone there if charges were not going to be filed.

Suet, her past isn't "that" bad at all, but there's enough for the cockroach attorneys to spin it into questioning her character.

Slouch, I'm with ya on being a Laker hater--that team screws me every time I go with or against them.

TTinCO,

I hear that. They are my NBA playoff nemesis damned if I take them or damned if I go against them. Oh well I least I get $50 bucks a drop in the bucket, compared to what they cost me the last 2 years in the playoffs. At least the ballhog has to suffer through his summer. Whether it is true or not I don't know. Just a little payback for a bitter little better who was punished by the Jeckyll and Hyde Lakers.

I am with Raiders and Dicky on this one. It is a ridiculous thing to take bets on nascar crash's and will someone be charged with rape.

This book wants to take action on shit like this but has a $10 across the board max on dog races. Never bet a dog there just inquired and the response I got was.

The maximum allowed on greyhound racing W+P+S is $10. That limit has been in effect for quite some time now. Should you desire a higher limit you would need to send in a memo in the attention of the Board of Directors requesting the amount you wish to wager. Please note that there is no guarantee that the higher limit will be granted. Should you have further queries please feel free to ask. Diana

I WILL LET THE BOARD OFF THE HOOK THIS TIME AND LET THEM STAY AT THE COUNTRY CLUB AND COUNT THERE MONEY INSTEAD OF BOTHERING THEM WITH A REQUEST FROM ME. I WOULDN'T WANT TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE BOARDS TIME ON HOW THEY CAN FVCK THE PUBLIC OVER BY CHARGING 20 CENT BASEBALL THANKS.
