It looks like my Denver bet is going tits-up but at 5/1, I can live with it. I'm very disapointed with Shanahan's game plan, maybe he's gone at the game, maybe he has'nt the player's, who know's? As punter's, we have to take it all into account.

Every Year I make an assessment of the coaching staff, cant remember his name off-hand, ex-Dallas coach, goes to Cleveland to join Butch and what do you get. I've always found Herm easy, he looks at the spread before he game plans, Schott, say no more. Norv Turner is always best in the first 3-4 games, before D coaches analyse what he's doing. Cowher is great if his Teams strength is obvious but desperate as an adjustment coach. Dungy, Billac and Lewis play the %. I usually give 3 pts to the coaching situation, sometimes you wonder, should it be more.

By no means making excuses but you have to question Denver taking a FG, then an on-side kick, when 4th & 6 is a better bet. The thing to remember when assessing coaching calls is, everyone can mistakes in play, but there is no excuse for a bad call when the coaches have time.

Well said. Couldn't agree with you more. After matching up player personnel, position by position, offense, defense, special teams including punting and place kicking, I take a long hard look at the two coaching staffs and when there is a glaring difference, I consider it significant. As for this game, honestly can't say that I would have given an edge to either coach, but I do agree with you that I believe that Shanahan is on the downhill side of his career. Dungy appears to stay the same, year in year out with little improvement, just better players.

Ted,

Glad you feel the same. Campo is his name, I couldnt believe some of the calls he made. I often read what amounts to sour grapes on here, and today I feel I have been a victim of a questionable game plan. I, as most reasonable people, can accept an unfortunate game plan, but its the critical calls that makes a winner, and thats when you get that feeling, that this coach is going to make the right call, or the nuts tighten.
