He hasn't been the same since the knee injury in the playoff game. There are many factors to his play the last year plus. He could easily start on 20 teams right now.

top 5? nope tope 10? sure.

1. Manning
2. Brady
3. Big Ben
4. Brees
5. McNabb
6. Hasselbeck
7. Favre
8. Palmer
9. Romo
10. Culter

Thats my top 10.

QB rating
Week 1 32.4
Week 2 41.3

So how many weeks of this same sorry bullshit do you guys have to see that Palmer is overrated. Palmer , Anderson, and Garrad have all had one good year and it was the year they first became the starter of their teams.

Man I dont know why you guys love this kid and to say he would start on 20 teams is crazy. Who he would not start for right now.
Denver
Chargers
Seattle
Eagles
Cowboys
Jets
Steelers
Cardinals
Packers
Colts
Patriots
Panthers
Saints
Giants

Im sure their may be more. But he is the prototype QB but he sucks. Give some of these other Qbs chad and TJ. Two receivers that have been to the pro bowl.

Only an idiot would say Palmer is overrated but look who started the thread. Palmer is playing on a team in a bad state right now. Manning would look just as bad & the same with Brady, Romo, etc....

I'd take Palmer over Romo any day of the week. Don't give me the bullshit about playoff wins as Romo has not won jack shit either.

A QB can only do so much regardless of how much talent he has. Bulger is a top 10 QB in the league but he looks terrible due to having the worst OL in the league the last few seasons. Even with saying that, if you look at the stats when he played a full season or even almost a full season, he has similar #'s.

Comparing Palmer to Anderson or Garrad just further illustrates you are clueless as they are completely different from Palmer & are bad comparisons.

Palmer is an excellent NFL quarterback but Cincinnati hasn't kept up the offensive line. Their front office has made some very questionable moves and now Palmer doesn't have time to throw.

Palmer is so much better than Derek Anderson or David Garrard too.

EGD, agree with everything you said except that Bulger is a top 10 QB. I don't think he's anything special personally.

I love how you spin eveything your way. "Classic look ahead game for ASU." Who cares?!!? They lost AT HOME to UNLV, didn't even know UNLV had a football team. There isn't a team in the SEC who would lose that game anywhere. Stop having your west coast wet dream, The PAC-1 blows and showed it again this past week and Palmer has been nothing short of terrible the last 2 seasons.

We're talking about the NFL & you are bringing up college. Idiots like you can't accept that USC is better than anybody in the SEC & I am a SEC fan so it shows how much you know.

As usual idiots like you don't understand football & the situations that play out on every level. ASU had no business losing to UNLV but to act like it wasn't a classic look ahead game tells me you have a lot to learn.

Also since you want to bring college in the mix, I will give you +14 on Florida if they meet USC in the title game.

EGD and Jake T. What has Carson Palmer done that David Garrad or Anderson hasnt done. What makes Carson Palmer better than them.
I know you guys like to defend everything west coast and I know Whorman likes to trash everything pac-10. But Cmon.

This is press bias and thats what it is. Lets blame Chad, lets blame marvin lewis, lets blame the o-line, lets blame the defense. I havent heard one outlet blame Carson Palmer for the failures yet. What is the major difference between this team and the team Palmer took to the playoffs.

In my opinion the major difference is Palmers play. Blame the injury I can understand that but you guys defended this sorry excuse for a QB is just retarded. What is it going to take to make u believe. A new coach or him going to a new team and doing the same exact thing. You guys can buy into the USC hype and the one pro bowl year but I dont.

Palmer has a worst Qb rating than Russell and he has horrid receivers, bad o-line and the Raiders organization is in much more worst than the bengals.

STOP MAKING EXCUSES FOR PALMER.

No other Qb gets this much love for such bad play. I swear.

The team is a complete mess & has never recovered from the off the field issues along with the playoff loss that featured that horrific injury. This is not media bias, it is a pure fact. Stop bringing the west coast into this as this is not about where he played at but where is playing now.

The Bengals have regressed as a team overall & it is not because of Palmer. Go ask GM's or football scouts if a majority of the teams would not run over one another if they could get CP with no questions asked.

I don't care who you are but a bad OL will make EVERY QB look bad. I don't care if your last name is Brady, Elway, Montana, Unitas, Manning, etc...

Watch a few of Palmers games. Titans didnt get at him like that yesterday. He makes bad throws. Thats it. Just bad throws. Watch his games from last year and this year. For the most part its him not his offensive line. Dont get me wrong his lne aint good but he makes horrible throws. T.J and chad wants to trash Palmer but they wont because they would be the bad guys. But if you look at them when as certain questions or read certain quotes they want to trash that bum so bad.

But my original question still stands what has palmer done to earn him top 10 qb in the league honors.

from 2004 to 2005 (SB contender) to 2006 (Shmo Bowl MVP) he projected well enough to earn the accolades. That part is not confusing or even up for debate. 2007 COULD be blamed on a lack of a running game and a shitty defense that deflated the team early on (see week 2 v CLE). You can reason a pass for Palmer ("he forced it too much") in 2007. This year, there can be no excuses. He needs to get his prima donna recievers in there and get some reps or he will die back there! There will be a lot of available excuses this year, but he needs to make things happen despite adversity to earn his rep.

Since when do I have a west coast slant? You made that part up.

Back to Palmer...

First off, the Bengals opened against two excellent defenses in the Ravens and Titans. Two of the best in the NFL... What do you expect a guy to do with a poor running game and bad offensive line play?

The O-line used to be a big strength and when Palmer had time to throw he was great. Now that he doesn't have time to throw and the team can't run, opposing offenses can afford to double or triple team his top WRs without fear of getting burnt on the ground.

Garrard had a great O-line last year and made the right throws without doing too much and everyone thought he was great. This season, with his offensive line injured, he has 3 INTs and 1 TD and has looked horrible.

The difference between him and Palmer is that in a situation with a good offensive line, Palmer has shown he can be a star whereas Garrard has only shown he can manage the games and make the right throws without getting in the way.

Palmer's arm and accuracy when given time are so much better than Garrard's and Anderson is a joke in comparison. The guy throws a ton of poor balls.

Palmer is still an elite QB without a doubt. He would be in my top 5, but this year he is struggling because his team absolutely sucks. No OL, no running game and an idiot that wants to be called Ocho Cinco at WR. Their defense sucks too, so not exactly a recipe for success.

I can't wait until Palmer leaves Cincy and gets a chance to shine. This kid could easily win MVP if given the right situation. I think he goes to somewhere like Oakland or San Fran though to be back on the west coast when his contract is over and hopefully the team he does go to has weapons and on OL.

Agreed. With Rodgers and Edwards only one year away.

Edwards only one year away? He will never be a top 10 QB, let alone top 5.

And gtc, please tell me you made a mistake by putting both "manning" and "peyton" in your top 5, because that would mean you think Eli is a top 5 QB.

Trust me, Peyton Manning would not allow his team to dog it like the Bengals are. Palmer is not a leader. Guys don't want to play hard with him or for him. Put Manning on the bengals and they are easily a playoff team. And the only idiot is you if you would take Palmer over Romo. They have the same number of playoff wins and Romo will be a perennial Pro-Bowler and playoff participant for yrs to come. Palmer is a stiff. Typical entitled, soft USC scrub

Minny would be the NFC favorite if they had Palmer. The Bungals are worst-run organization in the AFC, and no, Manning could help them either. Under no circumstances should they have brought Chad Johnson back. And only the Bengals let their best O-lineman go right before the season.
