There is definitely collusion at live tables in Vegas. I know that for a fact.

Yes but its easier to see. Also you can get them out of there. Last time I played this happened at a tanle over from me. They asked nicely for the 2 to go. They only left when security was called. It does happen from time to time. Like when they put the squeeze on guys and than check it down or one will fold to a small bet.

You colluded with six friends, and you're calling other people losers?

He didn't say he colluded. If I read it right he had friends and they all played poker and won(I hope that's the case).

Anyways, it's not rigged, it's the same with online casinos...it's a never ending story or complaint. Some sites are scams and some players will cheat but that does not mean it's all rigged.

If all this is true, how are guys like Matt24 (from this website) making such good coin?

Are you guys talking about guys on t.v. or just some random people you have witnessed in a casino?...

Some people believe it is and some don't, there is no way to prove it either way.
-Anyways the title of the thread says "realistic"...

if it is rigged i must be pretty damn good if i keep winning! in all seriousness there is cheating and collusion that goes on in certain games no doubt but i dont think its rigged at all, i would have been broke a long time ago if it was.

If poker sites rigged cards, wouldn't it be rather easy to uncover? Tracking hundreds of thousands of hands and seeing if a signficant deviation from normal random generation exists?

</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>In a case that illustrates the perils of online betting, a leading Internet poker site said Friday that a hacker exploited a security flaw to gain an insurmountable edge in high-stakes, no-limit Texas holdem tournaments — the ability to see his opponents’ hole cards.
The cheater, whose illegitimate winnings were estimated at between $400,000 and $700,000 by one victim, was an employee of AbsolutePoker.com who hacked the system to show that it could be done, said a spokesman for the company, who spoke with msnbc.com on condition of anonymity.
“This is literally a geek trying to prove to senior management that they were wrong and he took it too far,” he said.

I mean this is just the first thing that came up... I don't have time to post every scam and software flaw. I just posted this because it was from MSNBC and it was the first thing that popped up
-As I said earlier, I know scams occur everyday but the original post was to ask about the UNREALISTIC draws and odds that occur online. FOR EXAMPLE:

What these programs can do, is create databases of games that occur on the poker site, which can then be statistically run through to look for inconsistencies. Although most players would never play enough to make a case for statistical deviance, professional players would definitely notice strange deviations in deck shuffles, draws and and other details with their trackers.

For instance, to hit a flush draw with two of your suit on the flop, the probability is about 35% from the flop to the river. In essence, the chance of the board having three to a suit fall is around 35%. Through tracking software, one can easily notice over 10,000 hands (what a professional probably plays in a month) any deviations in flushes. If flushes are falling 36% of the time, that's probably just a random blip. 37% and that's a big blip. If we get near 40% then there's definitely something to be looked into. Seeing how a pro player would have a database easily reaching into the hundreds of thousands of hands, they would definitely be able to judge the randomness of the deck (if they were technically able to run reports against their own data).

I-poker is only un-realistic because you don't have tell signs like a live game. You can only guess or go by betting strategy and form an opinion of a player that way.

About best pre-flop hands not winning... I've actually tried a test of 100 hands and the worse hand preflop won nearly 60% of the time. It's cards... some days the cards come, some days they won't--you just have to play the true odds of them if that's what it comes down to.

That's the question I am asking for everyone's opinion...

Does it seem that the odds of winning (based on the hands, etc.) are different for internet poker and live poker. It seems hands hold up more in live poker and get busted OFTEN on the internet. Also draws hit more on internet than live.
-So does it just seem like that to me?

I played on line tournaments and at first had good success @ FTP placing in some large tournaments with several hundred to 2000 + players. Placed in 4 over 3 months and took about $6K off the site then my cards ran cold and also experienced a lot of bad luck in races or going up against "AA" an extraordinary number of times to get knocked out of tourneys. I now play "live" tourneys and I can say two things about on-line vs live:
1. you get much better "hole" cards on-line & bigger hands- this makes it more exciting for the player with more action.
2. the all-in-races are much more exciting with the lead changing one or more times -this makes great "bad beat" stories, also turning up big hands.

I know people who have colluded on the cash games. I am not sure but I would expect there are house players or "shills" on these sites. The sites have nobody to answer to, so there is too much temptation to get "more".

I do still play online recreationally in small tourneys and low entry fees & find that entertaining.

Yes, I think online generates a lot of "roller coaster" races with the lead changing one or more times and "bad beat" stories so the loser can go away with the feeling he was the better player. This keeps him coming back.
