Patriots also fined 1.1 million and lose a 3rd rd pick for their illegal video incident against the bengals.

This will be a bust. Cam's best days are behind him. His scrambling and running ability was his bread n butter not there anymore. His focus isn't and hasn't been football...it's fashion and making sure he doesn't get hurt anymore for life after football. The killer "eye of the tiger" instinct for winning and only winning is gone with him he's in survival I just need a paycheck mode

I guess when you have no talent to throw to (Julian Edelman is old and beat up) you go get yourself a running QB. But the Pats better find some Offensive linemen too.

I know Willie is the eternal optimist but I think it's pretty unlikely that this team even makes the playoffs.

Think about the contrast in personna - Tom Brady to Cam Newton. I can't see this working very well.

Wouldn't be surprised if he was signed as the backup, they need to find out sooner rather than later whether Stidham is the future. Have to think Bill knows that.
Why delay that a year to possibly win an extra game or two? Cam doesn't take them from non-contender to contender.

Harry has stud potential heading into his second season and healthy. Edelman and Sanu, another sophomore in Meyers, FA signing of Lee, the leading candidates to Land Gordon (ok, that doesn't mean anything unless he's beaten his deamons), and drafting two big tight ends fairly early by Patriots standards (even moved up to get one), and I can honestly say I'm not worried. But I never worry, Belichick is the GOAT, I just enjoy the ride.

As for Cam, he's a low risk, inexpensive and high reward signing. If he wins the job and if he produces, he gets paid. Otherwise he's just a cheap insurance policy.

He'll also play by Belichick's rules, or he'll be gone.

PS: they're contenders. As always, I put my money where my mouth is

I chose my words carefully my friend.

"Cam doesn't take them from non-contender to contender."

As opposed to

"Cam does not make them contenders"

So check this out:
Tom Brady goes to the Bucs
Jameis Winston goes to the Saints
Teddy Bridgewater goes to the Panthers
Cam Newton goes to the Patriots
They just swapped QBs in a circle

Can't imagine Cam not being the opening week starter. He's been below average the last 3 years. Still probably the better option to Stidham.

it wont .. but then again, from being inner circle on Sanduskys linebacker camps.. to advising and providing Hernandez access to a flophouse in a commuinty of law abiding citizens, this guy has been teflon
