The office of California Gov. Gavin Newsom has told residents in the Golden State that if they go out to eat, they should be wearing a mask “in between bites” to protect themselves from COVID-19.

“Going out to eat with members of your household this weekend?” an Oct. 3 tweet from the governor’s office says. “Don't forget to keep your mask on in between bites.”

For emphasis, the tweet shows an image of someone at a dining seat wearing a mask, then not wearing a mask while taking a bite, and then putting the mask on again.

However, the image then advises people to "minimize the number of times you take your mask off."

California has allowed limited indoor dining to resume in a number of counties. San Francisco allowed indoor dining last week at 25% capacity.

California has had more than 800,000 cases and more than 16,000 deaths due to the virus.

Numerous health experts have said that masks can reduce the spread of the virus, but when it is appropriate or possible to wear a mask is frequently a topic of debate.

Broadcasters for “Sunday Night Football” were “compelled” by officials in Santa Clara, Calif., to wear masks while commenting on the NFL game between the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles.

Meanwhile, Canada’s top doctor last month suggested people wear a mask during sex to protect themselves from the virus, and also avoid kissing.

Here is what one person says about wearing a mask all day at work:

In one of my jobs, I’m forced to have a mask on from before I get of my car in the parking lot until I get back in when I go home.

I’ve notice that half-way through my shift, the filter fibers inside the employer-required masks begin to detach. On multiple occasions, I’ve removed fibers hanging out of my nose. I wonder just how many smaller fibers I breathe each day, and how damaging they are to my respiratory tract.
Given that the masks are made in China amplifies my concern even more.

I also wonder what kind of delayed mask-related illnesses were going to see in the coming months/years.

I assumed this story was fake so had to confirm it was real

between bites lol

Damn, I didn't think of that, thanks for confirming it :)

When it seems to absurd to be true, I too do some research. I guess this stupidity didn't shock me

Flu deaths are way down due to safety measures (lockdowns, masks, distancing, etc).

You are morally responsible to not murder others.

Wear a mask to protect those most vulnerable from dying as a result of - your - C-19 infection. IOW wear a mask so - you - don't murder others.

If you can't even do a simple easy little thing like put on a mask to protect others & society, do you even deserve to have a life or live.

As it's said "Karma's a bitch".

Who the hell is gonna go out to eat and put their mask back on after every bite or sip of their drink?

I know masks are a polarizing subject but perhaps their usage would be more widely accepted if people didn't say stuff like "Make sure to put your mask on after every bite"

why not? is that a rhetorical question?

No.

Suppose you're eating with one or more people nearby & after every bite you stop & talk for a few minutes. Why shouldn't you put your mask back on after stuffing your face?

OTOH if you're wolfing down a whole burger in two minutes while eating nonstop, there is less need to put your mask back on after every bite.

I went to a casino (not in Vegas) this weekend and the mask police were out in full force. They were all up on you almost immediately if you didn't pull your mask up in-between taking a drink of beer, taking a drag off a cigarette, etc.

I won't be going back.

I'll suggest employing many thousands of the unemployed as C-19 rule enforcement officers. Get people back to work & kill the virus at the same time via enforcement. Kill two birds with one stone. Maybe even start with $1000 fines for first offences, or arrest & jail the covidiots. Hotels could be used for jailing purposes if the "accomodations" become full elsewhere. That could put hotel staff back to work rather than receiving free government payouts for doing nothing.
