I play 1-5 units with one play this year of 6. It helps me keep track of my winnings. For shits and giggles lets say each of my units are $100. That means the obvious.
1 unit=100
3 units= 300
5 units=500

You are right. If you are usually making 1 unit bets like most people and you win, you are +6 units. Pretty normal huh?
but if you always bet 100 units and bet 600 units then you are up 600 units and won more units than everybody else. You could run around and say you are up 600 units. Now most people would realize how foolish you look, but instead of taking it to an extreme, you could multiply your bets by 3.
1 unit bet = 3 units
2 unit bet = 6 units etc.
Then you could run around and talk shit if you wanted to and try and argue how 5-3-1 with inflated units is better than 4-1 with "normal" units.
My units are $50...if I win a 6 unit play I win $300...plain and simple. :drink:

but what if somebody else is also a 50 dollar better but says that 5 dollars = 1 unit.
You bet 50 bucks = 1 unit
You go 4-2 on the week + 2 units = 100 bucks
They bet 50 bucks = 10 units
They go 4-2 on the week + 20 units = 100 bucks
I know that is a more extreme example, it is more like 2 or 3 times but whatever.
30.75 units > 21 units no matter how you slice it.

Thats the whole problem here. who cares what others do? Its all about winning here. If someone that wins 100$ this year wants to call it +100 units, good for them. If someone else here wants to claim thier 100,000$ profit this year as +1, good for them. The bottom line is I may be a $1 per unit player, or I may be a 50,000$ per unit player, So in actuality both you and I have no clue who actually did better this year.

Anyway you want to slice it.
If I bet 1 unit every game and was 20-10 = +10 units
and you bet 3 units every game and were 19-15 = +12 units
You don't say hey, I was up 12 units, I won more than you. If you standardize the units you were up 4 units, not 12.
Even so, I won 30.5 units, and you won 21
20.75 +8.75 = 29.5 plus 1 unit you didn't count = 30.5 units won
You said you won 24, but SF -3 pushed not won = 21 units won
30.5 >21 units.

Your math isnt correct but you will admit this was just week 12 to current right? In any circumstance I have always claimed to be a casual NFL capper. Even if your count were correct +21 units in 5 weeks is pretty damn good by anyones standards. Add in a profitable NCAA year plus a great by anyones standards +50 unit bowl season puts me approaching a +90 unit year betting sports. Thats pretty damn slick for a guy that just enjoys watching games.:drink:

My standard...my units:howdy: in your example here, I was up 12 units no matter what you seem to think. Why would I bring myself down to your standard? You keep making these nonsense statements, but in actuality we both avaraged somewhere between 2-3 units per bet. I really dont care if you think you would have won a contest that you werent willing to man up to, because I could have lost that contest to you and still been up over 75 units on the year betting sports.
