Matt, i own a convenience store.. its good steady money but like anything else, it has its hassles,, i try and work about a 1/2 day but its 7 days a week and of course problems arise all the time but on the flip side, if i ever want off, i can do it.. im home right now, but i got up and opened the store at 5 AM, i made some orders out and left for a while, ill check in for another hour through lunch and then go back this evening for another hour but i only live a couple of miles from my store, so i pop in and out all the time.. this lifestyle is well suited for sports wagering as a side business..

Matt,
Just make sure you find something that not only interests you but that you believe in. Starting any new business venture will take a lot of time but if you believe in your business you will find the hours and challenges well worth it. Good luck.

Actually I wouldnt mind doing a laundry mat, I have a friend who is an insurance agent who also is set up as a bill paying service, so people come in there to pay bills. he is going to survey them seeing if they would use a laundry mat, because we used to have one but it was junky and it went out of business. That is something I could just start and wouldnt really have to pay much attention to, just hopefully a few extra dollars in my pocket, a car wash the same way, but unfortunately there is a nice one in my town already that came in a couple years ago.

SSI: One of my teachers this semester is Rick Johnson(former owner of Bigfoot, who sold out to Macs) He is a great guy who really hit it big with his convenience stores, the guy is loaded, with his own private jet.

Matt,

almost any business can succeed as long as what it caters to is in the proper location.

for instance, if you want to open a bookstore, dont open it right next door to a library.

if you are serious about the laundry mat, then consider a location that is near a lot of apartments that dont have their own laundry facilities. those will be the people who are looking to use a laundry mat.
