teams like Kentucky, Duke, and other big brand names with tradition will always be seen as getting all the calls whether there is validity to it or not in certain games becaue that is the perception.....Its the same reason some people hate the New York Yankees....When you've won piles of Titles there is jealousy ( people want to see them fall) and considering Wichita State is a lot more under-the-radar compared to those big brand names they draw a lot more sympathy from everyone....

I saw two great teams going back and forth at each other like a heavyweight fight....Probably best game of the Tournament up to this point.....Ironically, Wichita State earned even more respect in a loss than they did by blowing out medicore at best teams all year....Both teams keeping coming back and fighting in a great game, but only one could win in the end.

It's because UK guards (twins) figures it out. The twins improved play are the whole key of why UK is playing at a higher level now. Again. My original comment was meant for Lewis. I'm a UK fan, so call me a homer or entitled or whatever you want, but overall it was a pretty well officiated game. There were missed calls on both ends of the floor but nothing that swung the game.
Uk won because for the first time this year they got good guard play and shot extremely well. If they shoot like that rest of tourney they'll be tough to beat. However, I doubt they do.
To say uk won because of referees is laughable really and if you truly think that then you either didn't watch the game or you're buying into the "UK gets the calls" bullshit.

I agree ... each team got away with different things throughout the game. I personally bet against UK a lot and win a lot, so it's not being a homer. Just speaking truth. To the other poster above, I would venture to say Wichita played their best game of the season as well. UK is still sloppy with the ball. UK's problem this year is they turn it over too much and when they don't hit shots (with turnovers) ... they lose. They can win against any team if they can do 1 of those things well (shoot well or cut turnovers down).
Well said jbragg and jagwood. No one deserved to lose that contest. All I'm gonna say is it wouldn't surprise me to see UK cutting down the nets in two weeks. This team is gaining confidence and swagger with every trip down the floor. Lville better knock them out or it could get dicey for all the haters.

Unfortunate but some such happens from time to time. The quickest and best way to improve the tournament would be simply to make it truly a Division One only tournament.
I guess you all know that there are conferences who get automatic seeds that are far, far from division one competition.
