Why didn't the Patriots fire Brady with the other 2 guys

who was fired?

I heard suspended indefinitely by the NFL, and I hope they file a lawsuit

but riddle me this, if the Patriots fired them, then why don't they just give the NFL the evidence they're looking for?

Of course, false. But Facts are irrelevant. The Pats and Poor Tom are the victims of a vast conspiracy.

The rebuttal says there's no definitive proof that locker room attendant Jim McNally and equipment assistant John Jastremski plotted to deflate the balls, and there's no definitive proof that Tom Brady knew about it.
But there's a big problem here: The Patriots indefinitely suspended McNally and Jastremski, the two employees at the center of the scandal, without pay the day the Wells Report came out. In a statement, the NFL said owner Robert Kraft made the decision:

"Patriots owner Robert Kraft advised Commissioner Roger Goodell last week that Patriots employees John Jastremski and James McNally have been indefinitely suspended without pay by the club, effective on May 6th. Neither of these individuals may be reinstated without the prior approval of NFL Executive Vice President of Football Operations Troy Vincent. If they are reinstated by the Patriots, Jastremski is prohibited from having any role in the preparation, supervision, or handling of footballs to be used in NFL games during the 2015 season. McNally is barred from serving as a locker room attendant for the game officials, or having any involvement with the preparation, supervision, or handling of footballs or any other equipment on game day."
If wellsreportcontext.com is to be believed, McNally and Jastremski did nothing wrong and the balls deflated by themselves due to environmental conditions. So why were they basically fired?
The rebuttal doesn't mention any of this. It only vigorously defends the same two employees that the team punished internally.
Kraft and the team have denied any wrongdoing throughout this entire process. When the Wells Report was released, Kraft put out a statement saying, "To say we are disappointed in its findings, which do not include any incontrovertible or hard evidence of deliberate deflation of footballs at the AFC Championship game, would be a gross understatement."
But in that same statement he said he would accept any punishment handed out by the league. On that same day, according to the NFL, Kraft indefinitely suspended McNally and Jastremski without pay.
We've reached out to the team asking for clarification on why McNally and Jastremski were punished.

In a statement after the league punished the team and Tom Brady, Kraft suggested that he might fight the decision, saying, "Despite our conviction that there was no tampering with footballs, it was our intention to accept any discipline levied by the league. Today’s punishment, however, far exceeded any reasonable expectation. It was based completely on circumstantial rather than hard or conclusive evidence."
Despite that rhetoric, he's the one who initially punished McNally and Jastremski. The Patriots can nitpick the details of the Wells Report all they want, but right now their actions with respect to the two employees at the center of the scandal undermine the central premise of their 20,000-word website.

The league announced that neither can be reinstated without league executive vice president Troy Vincent’s approval, and spells out that: “If they are reinstated by the Patriots, Jastremski is prohibited from having any role in the preparation, supervision, or handling of footballs to be used in NFL games during the 2015 season. let's not try and play semantics, the NFL MANDATED the suspensions

and now they can sing, eh?

and since they appear to have been slandered, I suspect we've not heard the last from them. One way or another, they should be seeking out some deep pockets

Again, FALSE. But as usual, Wrong Way ignores FACTS and just sticks with his feelings and emotions. No semantics here, just FACTS.

Roger will hear the appeal. He's giving an FU back to NE's FU. If it were possible, He'd add games to Brady's suspension, and take more drafts choices from NE after their disgraceful and laughable appeal. As it is, I'd be pretty comfortable with him upholding his original decision. Can't wait to see the Pat fans continue to whine about how unfair this all is. :):)

Roger Goodell to hear Tom Brady's appeal of Deflategate suspension

9m -NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has elected to preside over the appeal of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's suspension, rejecting the NFLPA's request that an independent arbitrator hear the case.

"Commissioner Goodell will hear the appeal of Tom Brady's suspension in accordance with the process agreed upon with the NFL Players Association in the 2011 collective bargaining agreement," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in a statement Thursday night.
NFLPA officials declined immediate comment Thursday night.

  • Munson: NFLPA, Brady can't win appeal

The evidence gathered in the NFL's Deflategate investigation is clear and convincing, and Tom Brady and the NFLPA have no real shot in winning their appeal.

The union filed a formal appeal on Brady's behalf on Thursday afternoon. Brady is contesting his four-game suspension in relation to Deflategate.
News of Goodell's decision was earlier reported by Bleacher Report and ESPN's Ed Werder.
Goodell hired Ted Wells to investigate Brady and the Patriots, and deferred the choice of punishment to NFL executive vice president Troy Vincent. Wells' findings led Vincent to suspend Brady for the first four games of the upcoming season.
In addition, Vincent handed down penalties to the team which will cost the the Patriots two draft picks, including a first-rounder in 2016, and $1 million. The Patriots have until May 21 to file an appeal of their penalties.
The 243-page report concluded it was "more probable than not" that Brady was aware of the planned deflation of Patriots game balls in the AFC Championship Game.
Wells himself defended his findings earlier this week in the face of what he called "ridiculous" allegations that questioned his independence from the league office and whether or not the Patriots were victims of a witch hunt.
On Thursday, prior to the filing of Brady's appeal, the Patriots attempted to poke holes in Wells' report by launching a website that directly challenges some of the findings.

So Roger appoints himself arbitrator, how silly is that man? Might as well just skip over him and go straight to the courts.

Has he completely lost his sanity? After being admonished by the legal system twice in a matter of months, he sets himself up for strike three.

A serious question, can the owners possibly have confidence in him after this fiasco? especially on the heals of Rice and Peterson? I mean they're smart men and they understand the law and they understand the nuances of the game, they see this poppycock for what it is. They're sitting there thinking WTF Roger, give it up already.

So the owners know he's an idiot that keeps getting bitched slapped, the players know he's a lying bitch that can't be trusted, how can he possibly keep his job?

There's only one plausible explanation for yet another ridiculous decision on his part. A negotiated settlement on all fronts. Maybe he's smart enough to know he has nothing on Brady, and he knows the team's legal recourse is not as clear cut as the players, so he comes up with outrageous penalties against the Pats.

So he appoints himself arbitrator over a case he essentially prosecuted, and then he negotiates a settlement with Tom saying if you serve some suspension, he'll get rid of or lesson the team's penalties.

If he's not thinking something along those lines, then he's a fool besides being a mega asshole.

Either way, I think his days of working in the NFL offices are limited. Furthermore, I predict he takes a job with that "independent" law firm he keeps giving millions of dollars a pop to. They probably have a Roger Trust Fund already lined up for him.

and the band plays on

that's the one thing I wish they didn't say
No dosen't sound good...but this was said in the month of May 2014 when there is no football to be played. Also you don't know how many text and thousands of words were said in text between these two that were said in various other conversations. The word deflator comes up once in ten thousand words about a 100 different subjects and all of sudden that makes him a cheater?

There are twenty other points that in the Pats reply that make this report look like a total waste of time of three months a 5 millon dollars

Goodell and Wells even got the science wrong

Professor Roderick MacKinnon of Rockefeller University, a Nobel Prize winner in chemistry, said that environmental conditions could have been responsible for the different air pressure measurements, because pregame measurements were not recorded.

I believe the data available on ball pressures can be explained on the basis of physical law, without manipulation," MacKinnon said. "The scientific analysis in the Wells Report was a good attempt to seek the truth; however, it was based on data that are simply insufficient. In experimental science to reach a meaningful conclusion, we make measurements multiple times under well-defined physical conditions."

At the end of the day, this is huge. This addresses the fact that no wrong doing happened to begin with, that the whole damn charade is a farce

Throw in clear cut evidence this was a setup, compounded by the fact they stopped testing the Colts balls once the last of the four balls they did test was deflated, and the witch hunt simply crumbles under it's own weight

framegate it is, haters swallowed hook line and sinker

can't wait

What I don't get is Well's uses the text messages as pretty much his smoking gun. Even though they're not. But if they take those messages as credible why isn't anyone investigating their claim that the refs pumped the balls up to 16 psi? And that happened to be the game Brady was having a fit about the balls. And those messages came the day after the game when he checked them. I'm 100% team Brady on this one. This report is crap.

Want to guess who is an investor in MacKinnon's company?

Bob Kraft, of course.

So Roger appoints himself arbitrator, how silly is that man? Might as well just skip over him and go straight to the courts.

Willie, enjoy:

What are the chances of Brady proving victorious in court?
Not very good. Before Peterson, there was little to no precedent of an NFL player getting a suspension overturned in a court of law (Bountygate was overturned by Tagliabue).
“There’s definitely an uphill battle in getting an arbitration award overturned — it’s nearly impossible, unless you can show bias,” Liss-Riordan said. “And I think it’s going to be pretty hard to vacate an arbitration award based on the arbitrator being biased if the CBA allows for the arbitrator to be an interested party.”
...

Unlike in the Peterson and Rice cases, in which Goodell tried to apply new rules to misdeeds that happened prior to the new rules, Brady will have a tougher time proving that the NFL was flawed in its investigation and punishment and that Goodell should not be overseeing the appeal.
“In contrast to Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson, [Brady] does not appear to have a major flaw in the NFL’s procedures that led to his suspension,” Munson said. “The precedent, it’s all in favor of leaving the arbitration alone and judges staying out of these cases. Doty on Peterson was a stunning exception.”

Wells Report: More Probable Than Not Colts Played With Under-Inflated Footballs

Cold, Hard Football Facts for May 07, 2015

how convenient they stopped measuring colts balls since if a majority of theirs came back under it would blow their sting. Funny a ballboy supposedly can deflate eleven balls in ninety second in a bathroom but they only have time to measure four colts balls in an entire halftime. This report is such a farce but everyone hates the pats too much to be objective

that's where they're fucked

the rebuttal stated that as soon as both officials found a Colts' ball to be below legal limits, they stopped measuring Colts balls. That would speak volumes to intent, the NFL is fucked and Goodell gets fired.

but even if it wasn't the last ball measured, if the intent is to learn something, then why would you not measure all 12 game balls for the Colts? What would this story be if say 3 or 6 or 8 Colts' ball failed? Again, the NFL's argument is fucked but Goodell retains plausible deniability. (still gets fired for ongoing incompetence, but administrative fraud is not a certainty)

also buried in the story is the fact that the Colts' game balls supposedly start at 13 PSI, and if that's the case, then all 4 of the Colts' balls that were tested actually deflated during the course of the 1st half. Problem with that argument is that nobody knows what each ball started at, just like nobody knows what the Patriots' balls started at. Those numbers are not recorded, ever. My position would be that whatever position you take, you need to take consistently. And if that's the case, either position works for the Patriots.

Goodell and the haters have to take two different positions for their case to work

Not going to lie I hate being on the side of some quality-less people in this thread, but I have never seen a weaker case in my life than the NFL's case against Tom Brady. Not only should the entire punishment be reversed, they should issue an apology to Tom Brady. This is embarrassing.

Here is the question though? Why did the pats fire the two ball guys? It is pretty obvious what happened.....Brady said I like the balls at such and such psi and you guys need to have them there. As always, the coverup is what gets them...and the previous patriot cheating scandals hurts them as well.

That Brady press conference was a killer for him. Obviously lying.
