Well, what's the consensus here? I've only seen Diaz a couple of times. I was however ringside for Castillo-Casamajor. Castillo did'nt appear to be on a KO mission that nite. I realize he has a lot of whacks. Word is these two aren't taking prisoners. Diaz gives up his belt to take this fight. He is hungary and anxious to make his mark. Maybe a good thing, maybe not. I won't lay more than 3-1, not even saying I like Castillo here. I guess my inquiry here is does Diaz have a shot. A decent one. All fighters have SOME chance, but just how much of a chance here?
Diaz has a great shot, but will he get a decision? Whenever I want to make a bet on any fight, I ALWAYS look at who's promoting the card first. Arum is promoting this fight. In a financial sense, Diaz winning is not feasible. Castillo/Corrales is MUCH more profitable than Corrales/Diaz. Those who remember the Casamayor fight with Castillo will automatically know not to bet on this fight. So, if Diaz probably won't get a decision, you have to do research on whether he can KO Castillo or not. IF he can, Diaz is a live dog for sure.
i keep hearing that diaz will stand in with castillo........????....why?....his chin is sketchy at best.....i suspect that diaz will be moving as long as he possible can......he`ll potshot castillo because castillo isn`t that fast afoot...
castillo takes a good shot,though....and has been in with much,much better guys.....diaz has been a bit protected,imo.....
imo,castillo has much heavier hands....diaz is quicker.....a better boxer.....
but,if casamayor couldn`t box for 12(i actually thought casamayor did enough),i wonder if diaz will be able to avoid castillo for 12....
i see this as a classic boxer/puncher bout....if i knew that diaz would stand in,i`d love castillo...
but,castillo is very deliberate....diaz will almost certainly be ahead early....and if there`s a cut or something due to a butt,he`ll be looking good....
but,that chin is very suspect...if he stands in with castillo,i think he`ll get stopped...

the win over jauregui was a good win...jauregui stopped castillo in the mid 90`s...

My only thought on that is he dropped the belt for this fight because his defense would have been 100,000, and this fight will bring him 400,000. Money talks, and he prob figures its now or never. If I was Diaz, I would rather face Castillo, a guy who may be a bit shopworn, than a Corrales, a guy who would prob KO him. I think he is taking big money for him, and a big chance that he can outwork Castillo. I dont see it happening, but you never know.
Agree cap. All indications point to Castillo, but perhaps the weight issue with Castillo may be one reason why the Diaz camp feels they MAY have a shot. Having to drop 20 lbs or so for every fight may wear a guy down. Diaz will probably be there to hit more than Casamayor was. But your analysis seems to be on target. Take the shot. Maybe it's wishful thinking on Diaz's part. I'd say a stoppage in Castillo's favor is my only play IF I pull the trigger.

i disagreed with everybody`s scoring on this one...i thought diaz dictated the pace through the first 5...outpunched and outlanded castillo......picked his spots to stand and fight....and was quicker and landed better...
after the cuts and the swelling castillo took over....castillo always picks up steam as the fight wears on.....
i just didn`t think he did much early scoring-wise....diaz was actually backing him up in several of the early rounds.....
maybe i was groggy...lol
castillo was to strong....although the head work helped him a bit......
just the same,i needed him to win inside the distance....feel a little fortunate...
and i suspect that castillo/corrales will be more entertaining and competitive than diaz/corrales.....i wouldn`t fight corrales in 2 months,though....that`s to soon...
