Okay, so poker isn't the only degenerate thing that I do and wager on... I USED to bowl & gamble on how much wood I could knock down on the lanes... It IS a very lucrative and enjoyable sport. Some spectators still look at us as a bunch of swearing, drinking, gambling, & smoking degenerates. Okay, so I RESEMBLE that remark!!!
After having let my knee heal almost 1 1/2 years since my surgery, I've just almost finished up my physical therapy next week, and will start back up bowling again. Aside from the fact that it IS good excercise, you CAN make some money doing it.
Like point spreads in pro-football, they have what is called "handicapping" of pins in amateur bowling. This is established after so many weeks/games in a sanctioned league. When you enter a handicapped tournament, you get so many "pins" to add to your total score. If you bowl out of your mind, you can make some money.
Of course, you have your bad days too. They also have side pots, strike pots, mystery money pots, and all kinds of other goodies that incorporate the slightest things from bowling a strike to getting a card and making your best poker hand to making money.
Bowling can be VERY COOL!!!
Before I blew my knee out last year, I was bowling in a few scratch leagues and scratch tournaments. These are where you bowl pin for pin. I was up against women you see on ESPN. It really sucks when you shoot a 698 series, and the girl you bowl against shoots a 705 to just BARELY beat you!!! (A bowling bad beat!!!)
Crap like that happens. It's cool though when you bowl against pros and you beat them though. It's a mental rush. Sometimes the money isn't even the reward, just the thrill of beating the professional athlete is the just charge of it all.
Check it out sometime. A lot of leagues are starting out now. You can sign up for a full winter league, or a half league. It's a lot of fun and you can make a lot of money while staying in shape.
Peace & Have A Blessed Day!
