$150k to the winner. That's a big score for anybody, but especially an Ethiopian or Kenyan.
First-place finishers earn $150,000 in the open division, $25,000 in the wheelchair division, $5,000 in the masters division and $1,500 in each of five para designations. Second-place finishers receive $75,000, $15,000, $2,500 and $750 in those respective categories.

Hellen Obiri of Kenya, a two-time Olympic silver medalist, won the women's race in the Boston Marathon in 2 hours 21 minutes and 38 seconds. The 33-year-old has only raced in one other marathon — New York City last year, where she finished sixth.

Great run

Boston always starts later in than most marathons (10am vs typical 7-8am start) — makes a huge difference temp wise usually

Second half of that race can be kind of rough too
