The woman filmed licking the top of a Blue Bell ice cream tub and putting it back on the shelf has been identified — and could cool her heels in jail for up to 20 years.

Police in Lufkin, Texas, said Wednesday they believed they had identified the frozen-treat fiend after “detectives had obtained surveillance video placing a woman matching the suspect description in the Lufkin [Walmart] on June 28 around 11 p.m,” NBC News reported.

They are waiting to verify her identity before issuing an arrest warrant on second-degree tampering with a consumer product — a felony that carries a prison sentence of 2-20 years and up to $10,000 in fines, according to the Texas state penal code.

The now-viral video shows the woman tonguing some Tin Roof-flavored ice cream — then putting the lid back on and placing it back on the shelf as she cackles.

Dairy detectives are also trying to find the man who apparently filmed the incident and can be heard encouraging the woman to “lick it, lick it.”

Local authorities have said they recovered the tainted tub after tracking it to a Walmart in Lufkin.

No way she sees any jail time. A section 8 broad up against a liberal judge. Community service at best.

20 years is a bit severe, it's not like poisoning the Tylenol, it's disgusting enough but not deadly.

Why doesn't ice cream come with safety seals ?

They put them on just about everything else, even cleaning products you would never consume.

Bingo. They want to threaten publicly so other morons don’t don’t do the same.

This will get lowered to something a lot more manageable and end up as fake community service/ Probation.

Some but not all

I don't need a seal on a gallon of bleach, but it should be there on something like a tub of ice cream, someone could easily buy a few containers of it, take it home, poison it , go shopping at another grocery store, bring the tainted product into the store in reuseable shopping bags, buy a bunch of stuff and get some ice cream and put the bad stuff in the case and buy a few good ones, self checkout, cash, little chance of getting caught, dead kids soon !

I would hold the manufacturer liable to a large extent here, since nearly all food products are sealed and wrapped, not practical with produce

Gotta start making examples of these idiots today.

Hopefully she does go to jail.

I think some jail is realistic since it is Texas, hard to imagine an adult doing this

Naturally at Walmart, had to be !

The company claims the lid is sealed to the base because the frozen ice cream holds it on. Many other manufacturers have a plastic seal though

Cops ID Blue Bell ice cream licker, won’t press charges because she’s a minor

The cold case gripping the nation has finally been licked!

Texas cops on Friday said they found the girl who licked a tub of Blue Bell ice cream and then put it back on the shelf — and she even confessed after being busted with the boyfriend who filmed her in the video gone viral.

“They were both forthcoming with what occurred and admitted to the act,” Lufkin Police and Fire announced in a proud “CASE SOLVED” posting on Facebook on Friday.

The dairy detectives outlined the intricacies of their case, saying that a catfisher had deliberately misled everyone and bragged about it on Instagram — slowing down them getting the real inside scoop on who was behind the gross viral video.

And as the girl is under 17, they also seem to have thawed on locking her in the cooler despite previously warning she could have faced up to 20 years in jail along with fines of up to $10,000.

“We do not intend to pursue charges against her as an adult and therefore what happens from here is at the discretion of the juvenile justice system,” the department said, not identifying the girl because of her age.

“As to whether her boyfriend will face charges, we are currently discussing his involvement with prosecutors,” the statement added, with the boyfriend being an adult.

Police said they believe the pair entered a Walmart late on June 28 for the sick stunt that has been viewed more than 11 million times.

Lufkin Police and Fire reckoned it was the catfish — whose screen name was one letter different than the lickers’ — who bragged on Instagram, “Yeah, I really did that.”

They also say they had to eliminate several other women before getting the real scoop on their suspect.

A Walmart in Corpus Christi, Texas, located several hours away from Lufkin, placed an employee with a water gun outside the freezer to keep other potential ice cream lickers away.

Charge as minor then, don't dismiss, some kind of punishment for sure.

A buddy of mine had to vacuum the airport terminal for community service as part of a DUI plea, that's McCarron airport.

I once had to wash police cars, amoung other things...and I did it well and was complemented

Her doing this is actually good news. Because of the exposure all food companies need to secure the items. Am I the only one who remembers cyanide in Tylenol? And yes she needs some punishment. I don’t care her age.
