I agree with what the cruncher said, except when he said "Once the Giants have the lead in this game (as the Browns are outmatched in the running game) and can set their pass rush loose Derek Anderson will not be able to make enough plays to win or cover."

So far this season, when the giants have the lead, they do not bring a lot of blitzes, they basically come with a 4 man rush and try to control the game clock.

What the giants do well is run the ball. If a team brings up its safeties in run support, then the giants pass.

Cleveland is not on a par with the giants, who are one of the top 5 or 6 teams in the league at worst.

But there is not just thing as a lock.

I guess you are basing this on the Giants 12 or is it 13 game road winning streak. Figure they must be "due" to lose! Is that it?

if the game plays out as you expect early on, it wont be derek anderson you have to beat. it will be brady quinn.

prod,
i might be sticking my foot in my mouth here again, but come on. everyone knows that the o-line is horrible this year. the nyg are second in the league in defense overall and sacks, 3rd in rushing def. meanwhile cleve is 26th in sacks with 6 and they got 3 of those against a team with possibly a worse o-line in cincy.

cle has young corners who will get exploited just as they did vs dallas, the last team they played with a decent qb. nyg are 8th in the league in passing ypa, while cle is last in ypa and qb rating.

lets not get into the scoring issues as cle doesnt and the giants put up 44 on a defense that still comes out of that horrible week ranked #14.

in cle games played so far the have faced 3 teams ranked 21st or lower in scoring (pit-21, bal-27, cin-29)
there first game vs. dal, who is #2 currently, they lost by 18
oh, and cle is struggling to stay out of the basement in scoring at #31, meanwhile the giants give up the 2nd fewest points a game

seems cut and dry on paper, but we all know its never that easy!

Jarhead, thanks for weighing in! By "letting loose the pass rush" I didn't necessarily mean bringing blitzes. The Giants' defense is well known for getting good pressure on the QB by just rushing it's front 4 -- it's what gives them an incredible advantage defensively. I meant it more in terms of their pass rushers being able to utilize all of their moves that optimize collapsing the pocket or getting to the quarterback without simultaneously having to guard against a possible run.

I'm sure Brady Quinn will have a great time starting his first game agenst the defending SB champs who just crushed Sea. Tom Coflin wil send his big uglies up front with so much speed and power you wil need a spachula to pick up the piece of Quinn by the 3rd quarter. The only thing that would make it better was if this was a winter game on a frozen feild so after the 3rd QB sack Quinn would be afraind to hold on to the ball, Im hoping the sharps hit the over in this game. BTW thank you for the over in the Dallas game.

The sharps won't hit the Over in this game, if anything they'll wait until just before kickoff hoping the public bets the total up (MNF game very good chance of that happening) and take the Under.

They're still scrapin him off my stucco.

Not sure about an outright upset, but we have seen the same situation the past two years on Monday night.

2006 - CHI @ ARI (the Denny Green meltdown game)
2007 - DAL @ BUF (The Tony Romo doing his Rex Grossman impersonation game)

In both of the previous situations, the home crowd was pumped because neither of them had been on MNF in a while and the players fed off the electricity. Even though both teams lost, they EASILY covered.

I'm not sure why people have such a hard time believing it could happen again. This is the NFL.

money line on gmen has dropped 20 points from opening....despite the Spread being adjusted up by .5 (trap)

I was just refering to my notes and I have written down browns surprise beside my intial line scribbles, power ratings and defensive stats.

NYG have played 3 homes games vs - cinncy, sea and wash & 1 roadie vs St louis.

Browns defense is the best one they have seen since Washington & they are better.

Hixon maybe out for the giants

looks like a nice pic.... mac

Steinback, Tucker, Stallworth, and McGinnest are all good to go for this game.

The Browns line getting back Steibach and Tucker is HUGEEEEEE. Not to mention Stallworth back in the passing game, and McGinnest should give a boost to the D.

I think you're out of your gord if you think Cleveland wins this straight up. Just being honest. However, I'll be the first one to bump this and give you kudos if they do.
