Raiders Kicker Jailed for Bar Fight

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (AP) -- Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski was jailed over the weekend after getting into a drunken bar fight, police said.

Janikowski was arrested Saturday night on suspicion of misdemeanor assault, misdemeanor vandalism and public drunkenness, Walnut Creek Lt. Loren Cattolico said Monday.

Janikowski, who was cited for drunken driving last October, was bailed out of jail Sunday morning.

The Raiders were in Denver on Monday for a game against the Broncos. A team spokesman did not return a call seeking comment.

Police said they called when a fight broke out at Slates Supper Club in Walnut Creek. Several people told officers they had been assaulted by Janikowski, who was "very intoxicated," police said.

The football player wasn't very cooperative with officers but didn't resist arrest, Cattolico said. No one had serious injuries.

Janikowski was also suspected of breaking the mirrors off some cars parked near the restaurant, Cattolico said.

Janikowski was cited Oct. 1 by a highway patrol officer who pulled him over. His blood-alcohol level registered 0.20, well above the state's legal limit of 0.08.

Janikowski pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of drunken driving and was placed on three years' probation. He also was fined $1,292 and ordered to perform community service and enroll in a DUI school.

In 2001, Janikowski was acquitted on charges of possessing the "date-rape" drug GHB. In 2000, he was acquitted on a charge that he offered a Tallahassee, Fla., police officer $300 to release his roommate after an argument with a nightclub bouncer.
