actually he's pitched many good games but unfortunately without much runs support he hasn't had much to show for it. See, some of us look past the won/loss record and try to find out how someone really is pitching or how a team is playing. Lets see, in Cain's last 36 innings pitched, he has allowed 5 earned runs. Lets look at his past few years...his rookie season in 2005 he made 7 starts and had a 2-1 record with a 2.33 era. Not many games to judge but certainly good numbers for a rookie. Year #2 his record was 13-12 with a 4.15 ERA. Not a great ERA but again certainly not bad for a pitcher in his first full season. 2007, Year #3 his ERA actually went down to 3.65 but his won/loss record fell to 7-16. Was he a worst pitcher in '07 even though he had a better ERA or was he a victim of little run support? Obviously the answer is little run support. To the person that just looks at nothing more than his won/loss record and you see 13-12 and then 7-16 you must think "oh he sucks". This year Cain's record is just 6-9 with an ERA of 3.70 (about to go down after tonight). His ERA this year is still better than that of year #2 for him when he had his best record. I would say that a pitcher who has maintained an ERA under 4 is certainly not a bad pitcher. For you to say Cain is overrated is hilarious given the fact that I never hear anyone talking about Cain as an elite pitcher. He's not elite but he's certainly not bad. Atlanta would give anything to have a starter like him now as he would probably be their ace with Smoltz and Hudson out. I am sure the Yankees, Dodgers, Twins, White Sox, Red Sox, Cardinals, Cubs (rather have Marquis or Cain?), Brewers or any other team in contention would love to have him. I agree with homedawg, you show your ignorance with every post.
lol he pitches one good game and now hes nolan ryan!!
