Thought this was interesting since Wisconsin had such bad QB play last season. This year they should have more stablilty and maybe a different look even if Curt Phillips (RS soph.) doesn't beat out Dustin Sheer. Apparently Phillips is a duel threat QB which you rarely see in Madison and he should see the field on running downs even if Sheer is the starter.

Also an article about how Terrel Pryor will be throwing more this year and how he has improved from last year. I personally think TP will surprise many this season just like I was surprised when I watched some of the OSU spring game. Last year I was not impressed at all with his arm then I watched a decent amount of the spring game and noticed a big difference.

Qb news out of Michigan St. as it appears Cousins isn't the clear favorite to win the starting job. Not sure about anyone else but I thought he was a lock.

http://www.detnews.com/article/20090812/SPORTS0202/908120344/1132/Two-go-after-MSU-s-quarterback-job

Some info. on Ohio St.'s defensive depth since we all know Moeller is out for the season.

Lastly, I've been trying to find out what to expect from new OC Mike Schultz for the Illini. He's been handed the keys to a loaded offense. All I know is the offensive system will be the same as last year with the spread featuring the option so no new system in place but that's it, the rest has been pretty hush. Schultz came out this week saying that he won't reveal anything in camp that the Illini will be doing this fall.

I expect a lot of deep balls for obvious reasons and high scoring but how high? Are we talking high scoring for a Big 10 team or video game scores like you see from teams like Oregon, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, ect...? This offense has all the potential to get into the 40's and 50's this year. If we can get in early there is money to be made :drink:

I seriously don't know how defenses will stop their run/ pass threat when you look at their WR's, TE's, RB's, and dual threat QB.

no, I'm not a Michigan fan and I don't think they have been a dominant football team but...

BDHQ,

You have to be one of the biggest D-Bags on this forum. All you do is try to tout the PAC 10 and have absolutely no useful information when it comes to betting on CFB. Your just another loser that tries to have a pissing contest with every posters they can about how their team or conference sucks and is nothing compared to the mighty PAC 10. It gets so old. Please just start posting your garbage in THERODFATHER's CFB thread and spare the rest of us about your bullsh*t betting group that pools together thousands of dollars. Your betting group is probably a bunch of fags that get together on Saturday to have a pile on.

:cripwalk:

Would you like to put your money where your mouth is, Mr. Know-it-all? My group wagers more in one game than you do in one year. So now, you phony, you are going to put your money where your mouth is, or your face and my boot are going to meet. I have posted picks in my thread in the tracker. Before I kick your tail all over this fourm, I DARE you to fade any one of them. 1 large boy. Put up or shut up. You are just like the rest of the trash that lines the gutters of Las Vegas. All mouth, no action. You are a wimp, and I am going to bury you starting right now, just like trash gets buried in a landfill. So lets hear it from the big mouth. Speak your peace pretty boy. Pick a game. If you are afraid to do that, let's see your picks. I will fade you. Come on homer. Time to put up or shut up.~~:<<

You are welcome to the same wager, if you would like. My beef is not with you, but if you disagree with any of my picks, feel free to offer a wager. Now being an alleged Big 10 expert, what do you think of my Purdue under 5.5 wins wager? I also have Notre Dame -2 1/2 against Michigan in another future. Would you like to fade either one of those two wagers?

Not sure if this was directed my way or not....however I was replying in defense of you...I didn't think dudes post was warranted or justified...

He apparently has a beef with you for what I can see as no apparent reason at all and I didn't think you were deserving of what he posted...

Now, as for what you have posted....I have not gotten to Purdue yet in my preseason studies...what I do know is that I think their "D" can be better then it was last season. I do also think they will be better then people think, however, that doesn't necessarily mean they can or will win 6 games...

As for the ND -2 1/2 play...on the surface I like ND....however, this series has been dominated by the underdog...the jury is still out on Michigan....they should be better, but I think like most people, I am on a "holding pattern" with them....too many questions....

Put my money where my mouth is???? When have I ever made any claims that I'm some great handicapper? I bet between $25-$200 per game which is less than you...what's your fuking point??!! I have learned a lot over the past 5 years and consider myself above average at betting on college football but it's not like I do this for a living. I'm not on here to make a name for myself and sell my picks you retard. For enjoyment I follow and bet on college football, that's it. I use this forum to get knowledge about college football, share information, have good discussions and debates with others who follow the sport.

Then there are posters on here like yourself. You try to talk yourself up and make everyone believe your some college football Yoda. You specifically reference how much you bet trying to gain credibilty which is a red flag that your full of shit. You think just because you claim to be part of some elite betting group everyone will be so impressed. Every regular poster on here sees right through the BS and mocks you because we get dousche bags like you on here every year.

So why don't you do yourself a favor and take my advice, stick to talking college football and stop trying to impress everyone. After you start the season and go 65 - 75% through the first 4 or 5 weeks, then you can start telling people about your betting group and why your such a good capper.

I will however post my picks for week one but more than likely won't be able to make picks again until week 4 or 5 because I will be out of the country on a belated honeymoon. Really sucks too because I look forward to college football all year and now can't even watch the 1st 3 weeks of it. We can compete though out the year and see who has the best percentage.

Aside from his bragging in other threads, it's bad etiquette to come into a Big 10 discussion thread and every other post of his is about how shitty of a conference it is while touting the PAC 10. The Big 10 has been down, we get it...just don't be a dousche bag that's all I was aking.

Now back to football and sorry for flaming.

I liked the Alamo bowl because it was usually a good match-up but the champs sports bowl has been a snooze fest the past few years. I guess the swap doesn't make much difference to me.

Just saw Ray Small is back on the team so that's gotta be good news for OSU fans...that and TP ran a 4.33 40 which is pretty sick for a 6-5 QB.

First and foremost...in order for the Big Ten to have a successful Bowl season....they need to NOT have two teams playing in BCS games...so by having one team go to only the Rose Bowl....I think they will fair much better....

Take last seasons 1-6 showing....take Ohio St out of the Fiesta and put them in the Capital One bowl...and then slot everyone else down accordingly...

(Last year)
Rose - Penn St vs USC (LOSS)
Cap One - Ohio St vs Georgia (WIN)
Outback - Mich St vs S. Caro. (WIN)
Insight - Iowa vs Kansas (WIN)
Champs Sports - N'Western vs Fla. St. (LOSS)
Alamo - Minny vs Mizzou (LOSS)
Motor City - Wiscy vs Cent. Mich. (WIN)

4-3?

Ok, for this season....

Ohio St - Rose
Penn St - Cap One
Illinois - Outback
Michigan St. - Gator
Iowa - Insight
Mich - Texas
N'Western - Motor City

The 4.33 Pryor alledgedly ran is coming under a lot of heat....and doubters...

Tey say the track at OSU is notoriously a .05 sec fast....still, with that said....4.38 is still ridiculous

And it's not just 2 BCS games, it's the BCS teams your playing. A road game vs. USC and then another team either in the title game or a team like Texas that maybe should have been in the title game. It not like they are drawing Cincy, WVU, Utah, Boise St., V-Tech...who are all great teams but the odds of beating them is much better than USC (at the Rose Bowl), Texas, or LSU (in New Orleans)

It's funny how the chips these past couple years have not fallen in place for the Big 10 to do well the last few bowl seasons. Take 2007 for example, WVU should have played LSU in the title game but lost as a 28 point favorite to Pitt. That shifted a young OSU team into a title game they would have been better off not playing in. Especially since LSU was a completely different team once they had a month to get healthy. LSU's D-line and brick foot Todd Boeckman was not a good combo.

Worst than that, it put 9-4 Illinois into the Rose Bowl vs. a USC team that could have been the best team in the country. Then you get Wisconsin (big 10 #4) playing Tennessee who was #2 in the nations top conference (won't say that again about Tenn. for a long time). A set up for disaster and it all hinged on WVU loosing to Pitt when they were favored by 4 TD's.

The Big 10 needs one team in the BCS and USC to not play in the Rose Bowl and then I think the results will be much better.

Good article on the Illini offense and gives some solid insight if you are among the Phil Steele followers that think they could be this years biggest surprise team.

Here's another article as well that paints a pretty black and white picture as to why Illinois was such a huge disappointment last season... well aside from horrible coaching, bad special teams, having a reality show and cameras following them around 24/7, ect...

This year we still have the same lineup. It will be the 2010-11 bowl season when the changes take place.

Don't underestimate the leadership / team chemistry factor. You can tell that J Leman was a likable guy simply because he was really goofy off camera, while Brit Miller was well ... a tool. This year Brit is gone, and it's up to the quiet leader (Juice Williams) to take command. When your leader is liked amongst his peers - your team will overachieve. When your leader is Brit Miller, your team is in a world of trouble when they start losing.

Stupid. The Texas Bowl has a horrific payout. The conference will lose over a million.

TV ratings in the Insight and Texas Bowls are the lowest of all the bowls as they're on NFL Network.

This realignment accomplishes:

1) Lower payout to the team/conference
2) Less viewers of the bowl games

Keep Alamo, swap Champs Sports for Gator.
