If you watch Al Jazeera as of yesterday they were still reporting that the Americans were at least 10 days away from Baghdad. We can criticize the American media for being right wing or left wing or for "being manipulated" by the Government.

But the Americans are 10 days away from Badhdad?

I thank god to live in a free country. Where I can speak my mind without fear. Hopefully Iraq will become a free country.

No one said Al Jazeera was unbiased.

It doesn't change the fact that most major news outlets in America are biased as well.

In the same vein, apparently some exiles living in Dearborn outside of Detroit beat up an Al-J newsman because they were pissed at their coverage of the war, and it was reported that the 'fair and balanced' BBC did not show the statue-toppling today live, instead cutting to coverage of some minor earthquake.

That's a small hint as to why I've given up on trying to watch the BBC America channel - the BCC was so biased as even to be able to show something so positive for the coalition, America and especially the Iraqis.

BBC America is great for entertainment shows, though, Jazz. Say what you will about their news coverage but I love the Monty Python reruns!

funk, you missed my point. Of course every media station has bias, but in this country there are enough outlets which cover the entire political spectrum.

There is a difference between bias and outright propaganda.

bias is one thing....fox and cnn are both culprits....but state sponsored misinformation is something altogether different....al jazeera may not be state sponsored, but, alot of their stuff is blatantly intended to inflame anti-u.s. sentiment....

Half of Fox works to bolster Pro-Bush sentiment. They have news reporters at the desk rolling their eyes at people they disagree with. Its unprofessional if nothing else.

>Its unprofessional if nothing else.

But it sells:

While Fox, CNN and MSNBC all have something to brag about, the flag-waving Fox News Channel, viewed as in step with the Bush administration, has benefited the most in overall viewership. "The numbers speak for themselves," Fox News spokeswoman Irena Steffen says.

Talk-show-heavy Fox could benefit even more in coming weeks as debate over postwar leadership in Iraq heats up.

In the first 19 days of the war, Fox averaged 3.3 million viewers, a 236% increase from the weeks preceding the war. CNN: 2.7 million, up 313%. MSNBC: 1.4 million, up 360%.

Honestly, I think CNN just needs some new graphics. They have some of the best coverage of the 3, it just looks so damn drab. At least MSNBC and FOX are bright and colorful.
