please send any REAL advise regarding these attacks to bhbookie@hotmail.com.

I assure you that the book who are back up either paid, or are sharing the pipeline.

simple as that. (maybe a COUPLE exeptions)

So, no answer to the 20K in escrow account.

I guess that 20k bet you wanted to make was from bettors post ups.

Does anyone think these guys really have customers?

Scott or whoever is over there at BHB, you need to pipe down until you get your problem resolved. You are really putting your feet in your mouths right now and have nothing to gain from jousting with forum members. You're coming off as unprofessional and a smart ass. Handle your business.

We are handling our business...as for simple software to fix this problem...that is just not true...much goes into fixing the problem with a Dos attack, it is not as simple as buying software.

You boys were the ones that said "everyone attacked either bought a bigger pipe or paid the hackers"

My wager is this.....20k post up.....if I can prove without shadow of doubt you are wrong...if I win...donate to charity...your choice. Interested?

both of you have no clue.

we are not run from the US, and the books that did not pay ARE sharing a huge pipe.

I wont bet you because I dont know you. nor what sort of way you could try and distort this.

DONE with the convo.

BHB will be back up ASAP.

UNLESS anyone has a VALID complaint. please refrain from bothering me for a couple days.

Is the fact that your site has now been down for over 2 weeks a VALID complaint?

I can't take any more of Mr. Know it all with no web site......

These DoS guys have access to over 100mb of bandwidth to use. You just don't get it, do you?

I'm sorry, but this smells more and more like bullshit every time someone from BHB posts--which seems to be about every 15 minutes, all day every day.

Is that you Bill(Lance)?

The bandwidth isn't the main problem with this kind of attack. What the attackers are doing (correct me if I'm wrong) is flooding BHB's servers with bogus requests. The server itself has to deal with the requests. If the attackers are making 1,000 requests per second, and each one is only 64 bytes in size, that's a little under 100 KiloBytes of traffic (counting the "wrappers"), or about 800 kilobits, about the speed of a good cable modem or DSL line. Of course, BHB would have much more bandwidth than that. But if the server can only handle 300 requests per second, then it lags and can't process legitimate requests. Dumbed down: the attackers are targetting the machine itself, not the line to or from it. It effectively shuts the site down because the server (and/or software) isn't fast enough to handle all the requests.

The usual solution is to get or configure a router to not allow the packets to reach the server. As long as there's sufficient bandwidth to and from the site, the router simply filters (blocks) all of the bogus packets, so the server doesn't have to deal with them. Another possibility is to have the host provider (the last "hop" before the attack reaches BHB) filter the attack the same basic way. If they can't, they can go to their uplink (the core router) and have it filtered there.

If the attack involves a lot of bandwidth (as some do), then the host can go to their uplink (usually a core router, which would have a ton of bandwidth) and have it filter the packets. It's like a stream of water and a glass, a bathtub, and a storm drain. If the glass (BHB) can't handle the water stream, then they divert it to the bathtub (their host provider) which has more capacity for it. If the bathtub can't handle the water stream, then it's diverted to a storm drain (the host's uplink---the core router), which has much more capacity than the first two..

Hopefully that isn't too confusing.

These clowns at BHB just dont know when to shut the F*** Up. None of you guys play with this place, so who gives a s***. This place has and always will be a low tier, fly by night operation. You guys need to learn that these forums are a business, you got the cash they will put you in play. Shrink, Major, and the rest of the forum owners have found a nice way to make a living. If they can help you out, and it doesnt hurt there bankroll, they will be there for you. The bottom line is $$$$, and if you clowns would have thought of this first, you would be doing the same thing as them, making money!!!! Everyone needs to stick to the top 10 and run away from the BHB's of the world.
