I was texting with my boy the other day during Cowboys/Giants game, and he was a little pissed.
It’s wasn’t because he was losing his bet; it was because he didn’t bet at all.
He told me earlier in the week that he liked the Boys Sunday. His opinion about the G-Men is that they aren’t that great of a team, and he expected the Boys to be clicking after the firing of Wade Phillips.
So what was the problem you ask? After all, Dallas easily handled the Giants in New York.
The problem is that he didn’t make the bet.
When Not Placing a Bet is a Losing Bet
My buddy didn’t do too well the day before betting on college football. Therefore, he decided it would be prudent to place a couple bets on the early NFL games and waited to see what the outcome was before pulling the trigger on the Dallas Cowboys.
If he won or pushed on the early games, he would play the Cowboys. If not, he would be done for the day.
Well, you can guess how he did on the early games.
Placing Your Bets at the Same Time
I don’t recommend following this practice. I believe in placing all my bets at the same time.
After all, I did my research and liked all my plays. Also, I have my bankroll and know that whether I can afford the wagers or not – at worst case, I would have decreased my units so I can make all my bets.
Holding out and waiting for the outcomes of earlier games could cost you almost as much money as losing the bet.
Though it is true that holding out could have saved my buddy money if Dallas would have lost. Nonetheless, you can’t bet scared. If you are scared to place a bet, you are either betting money that you don’t have, or you haven’t done enough research on the game.
