I see some books out there offering wagers on 1st quarter, 3rd quarter.....
I haven't paid too much attention to these in the past, but lately I've been noticing some dogs out there in the +175 to +200 range for winning a specified quarter of play.....
For instance, last week Minny was +200 for the 3rd quarter against GB, which I thought was rather generous considering how poor GB was playing.....I bought a piece of the +200 and also the +3......if my memory serves me correct I pushed on the moneyline and won the +3.....
Today I noticed Minny +175 ML for the 1st quarter.......
Is there any data out there suggesting taking high payout dogs for these wagering purposes knowing that the dog only has to win about 1 out of 3 to be a break even proposition?
Does anybody out there bet these quarter wagers on a regular basis?
(FWIW I did take a small piece of Minny +175 for the 1st quarter.....maybe its a bad bet, but then again if they put up a TD, I'm thinking the worst I can do is push....)
