I purchased a HP 4900 2 years ago, and have been using it non stop since. I never use the desktop anymore. I purchased it for around $600.
I am probably due for a memory upgrade but other than that it has been great. I also use a wireless Linksys router, happy with that as well.
Hope this helps

I have heard some scary stories about DELL tech support sucks no one speaks english on hold for 45 mins can't understand the east indian language, I think spending a little more for a better tech support and someone who knows what they are talking about and who speaks the english language unlike DEll cheap labour with east indians and all the tech support does is read a scripted troubleshooting manual which my 6 year old daughter can do and she does not have a heavy indian accent the money saved on dell I do not think it is worth all the bull you have to put up with on hold forever, language barrier, scripted troubleshooting manual either you are a computer tech or you are not nosense reading a manual and having the cuatomer talking aprt their new computer due to problems it's ludicris, it's like me reading a medical manual over the phone and describing to a sibling how to perform open heart surgery on their parents totally ridiculous, all this comes from my personal experience with dell a new computer 3 months old and has been nothing but hell for 6 weeks on the phone for hours with someone i can not understand one word he is saying , 6 weeks of this and the problem is not fixed I told them my computer is my work I missed my dead line 6 weeks in a row which I got in trouble for and all dell says is I can understand your frustration, I said bullshit you have no idea having to deal with someone who can't even speak english I bought the computer from a US/CANADA based company not in INDIA have the common sense and proper business ehtic to cater to your cuaromers in an english language but no dell is worried about the all mighty dollar cheap to nothng labour answering the phone, for anyone considering DELL do yourself a favour and check out the BBB and you will see complaints galore which should of sent up red flags and stupid me I ignored it and went ahead with dell and now I have a computer that does not work and out 1200 dollars what a JOKE!!!!!========DELL

depends on what u use the laptop for. I have dell xps myself and been great ever since. They say DELL is making bad comp but not on mine. Just dont go overboard with the money, u think $2k laptop is better then $499?? i dont think so.... Laptop is always limited in a way, hard to upgrade for the core stuff like cpu and all that. I would stay aroud $799 or below.....
