Seen or played against? Best I played against was "Chocolate Thunder", Mr Darryl Dawkins himself. I held him to 31 points but instead of being congratulated they took me out at halftime. Fuckers. For real though, he was the proverbial man in a boys body, just a monster. He whooped our ass but good.

When I lived in Las Vegas, often watched Mike and Gary Maddux pitch and Andre Aggassi play tennis...

I think you mean Greg Maddux pitching. If so I didnt know they were from Las Vegas. I think Rams running back Stephen Jackson is from right around where I currently live.

Gary Maddox was an outfielder for the Phillies, dont think you ment him did you?

I grew up within 10 miles from Glenn Rice, Andre Rison, Courteney Hawkins, Jon Runyan, Carl Banks, Mateen Cleaves and many may others from the Flint, Michigan area and I followed them all from high school on up(dont remember Carl Banks, was too young). Eric Turner may have been the best when he was in HS. Started reading and hearing about Chris Webber when he was in 9th grade but that was an hour away from my house. The thing was though his teams played smaller levels, which he dominated.

Probably the most dominant high school player I remember when growing up in Michigan was a guy named Antoine Joubert. He never really made to the NBA but was a superstar back in HS and a pretty good CBB also, a scorer.

I remember seeing Jason Kidd play a HS all star game on like ABC before his first year of CBB and saying he would be a star one day.

Justin Smith Jefferson City High - Football
Watched Monte Hardge (basketball) as a freshman (same school) but he wasn't really any good but he was so much bigger than anyone else that he couldn't be stopped.

I saw Mark Hendrickson play hoops for Mt. Vernon High School in Washington St. and he was the most dominant players in the state. It's kind of funny that he now is a pretty bad pitcher in MLB after a short stint in the NBA.

Just looked up Joubert and he was a 1st team all-usa today HS BBall player for 1983-1990. Averaged over 31 PPG his senior year of HS at the highest level of Michigan HS athletics (Class A).

In Tampa you've seen a lot of great baseball players come through these parts, too many to list. From Doc Gooden to Sheffield and all inbetween.

RIson's team was in the HS finals the year my HS was. That was the best team I ever saw. Every starter was a Div 1 player. The Flint/Saginaw area was every bit as good as Detroit.

Saw jeffrey demps from south lake hs in florida run a 10.2 in the 100m at the state championships as a 11th grader. Set a florida hs record, and that is saying alot. Ended up nearly qualifying for the olympics, and now plays from UF.

looked like he was on a moped.....seriously could run like a deer

also was back-to-back state champion

note: also saw santana moss's twin sisters singlehandely win the state championship for their hs (cant remember). Just those 2 girls scored enough pts to win it all for their team. They won every even they qualified for. Pretty damn good

My buddy guarded Kobe when he was at Lower Merion. He actually played him well, held him to like 16 points.

I saw Kobe in another HS game where he went for like 56, it was obvious he was light years ahead of everyone else, just friggin sick.
