[h=1]Best bets for Giants-49ers[/h]
Warren Sharp & Preston Johnson
($ MATERIAL)

Where does the betting value lie in Monday's prime-time matchup between the Giants and 49ers? Warren Sharp and Preston Johnson provide their picks to help you place your bets.

[h=3]New York Giants at San Francisco 49ers(-3.5)[/h]Total: 45
PickCenter public consensus pick: 61 percent picked New York

Johnson: Nick Mullens got his first career start last week against the Raiders and led San Francisco to a 34-3 victory over Oakland. The most interesting part of this game was the line move after the news that C.J. Beathard wouldn't be playing: The 49ers were -2.5 at the time, and wound up closing as 1.5-point underdogs. Is the drop-off from Beathard to Mullens really worth four points? I didn't think so and wound up betting San Francisco. Now nobody could have anticipated the Raiders laying down for 60 minutes, but it was still an extremely impressive performance.

My number for the game with Mullens at quarterback (we have limited data on him still) is 49ers -1.8 and a total of 44.8. The Giants lost five in a row before hitting their bye in Week 9 with a chance to regroup. The market currently sits at +3.5 juiced at -120 or -125, or +3 at -110 for the Giants. As much as I like Mullens and what Kyle Shanahan does with his guys in San Francisco, this number is getting a little high.

The 49ers were underdogs at home to the Raiders but laying over a field goal to the Giants? I'll be taking New York come Monday night, hopefully at +3.5 at -110 or better (waiting before I jump in since this has been trickling up all week).

Pick: Giants +3.5

Sharp: I was intriguedto hear the Giants were sticking with Eli Manning out of the bye, despite sitting at 1-7 on the season. Their year is done, but with a first-year head coach in Pat Shurmur, I think the team must have decided for the fans (as well as the overall chemistry and attitude in the locker room) that they needed to keep trying to win games. And that is why I expect a really big effort out of the bye in prime time. The only issue is the 49ers have a sneaky-average defense, and the No. 8-ranked pass rush.

I was blown away by the efficiency of the Kyle Shanahan-led offense on a short week with Mullens under center, but that was against a Raiders defense that it seems has largely given up. The Giants' defense is a far cry from where it was the past few years but is substantially better than Oakland's D. The 49ers are playing on a longer week, with 10 days of rest after Thursday night football, and I expect another well-conceived game plan from Shanahan.

Pick: pass

Looking at theRX service forum, 13 of 15 so called professionals are on the Giants.

Enough for me...I'm taking the 49ers...…………….
