BRISTOL, Tenn. (AP)—
Brandon Bernstein led a record-setting day of qualifying Friday in the NHRA's Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway.
Bernstein posted a track-record performance of 4.530 seconds over a quarter-mile at 328.22 mph to lead Top Fuel qualifying. Larry Dixon was second at 323.74 on a run of 4.532.
Tony Pedregon was the fastest in Funny Car qualifying, finishing his run in a track record 4.765 at 322.81.
Warren Johnson led in Pro Stock with a run of 6.894 at 200.14.
Qualifying continues Saturday with final eliminations set for Sunday.
