That's not to suggest the coaching staff has soured on Wells, just that he reaches peak performance when properly motivated. Returning from a knee injury that has been career-threatening in the past, Williams isn't a strong bet to unseat Wells during the season.

He also took the opportunity to refer to himself in the third person. "I'm going to take my time," he said. "I don't think anybody wants to see a 75 percent Beanie Wells. Everybody wants to see a 100 percent Beanie Wells and that's what I want to give." The concern is that Wells is still a few weeks away despite undergoing his latest surgery six months ago.

Of course, Wells himself estimated on Thursday that he's only 75 percent, so it wouldn't be safe to assume anything about his health. Already an injury risk in fantasy drafts, Wells will become a dramatically riskier pick if he fails to take the field for exhibition games.

Beanie Wells (turf toe) said he feels like he's "ready to go right now."

Wells isn't eligible to come off the "designated for return" injured reserve list until Week 12. But if he's truly 100 percent then, he could hit the ground running with a major role. The Cardinals are currently using 5'7/185 La'Rod Stephens-Howling and William Powell in their backfield.

Beanie Wells (turf toe, I.R./designated for return) participated in Wednesday's practice.

Wells was likely limited to side work, but it's excellent news for a player who went down in Week 3. Currently on injured reserve/designated for return, Wells is not eligible to return until Week 12. Wells should immediately resume feature-back duties upon his reinstatement. The time to stash him in fantasy leagues is now.

Beanie Wells (knee, questionable) is fully expected to play on Sunday against the Seahawks.

Wells put in a full slate of limited practices this week, so it's not surprising news that he's expected to give it a go. However, Wells has been terrible since returning two weeks ago and is not a recommended fantasy play. He comes in as Rotoworld's No. 34 running back for Week 14.

Beanie Wells (knee) is practicing in full for Week 15.

It's a first for Wells since he came off injured reserve/designated for return in Week 12. Averaging a catatonic 2.3 yards per carry since rejoining the Cardinals' backfield and losing snaps to William Powell, Wells is a rough flex option for Week 15.
