Baseball and McCune

First of all I want to thank the moderators and posters here as this is an invaluable resource. I have learned more in the few months that I have been lurking here than I ever thought I would.

A little about me. I am a software engineer and have been using that to compile a farily large day-by-day database of past baseball results. A buddy of mine (who is a fund analyst for a major brokerage firm) bought a book by McCune and together we have been trying to apply as much of the information as we can.

I cannot recomend heavily enough mccune's books for a newbie. If you are getting into sports betting than please read these, they do have some stories that seem to go off on tangents but trust me you will get more value out of one of these books if you take your time and truly digest what he is saying.

Now my buddy (thankfully) taught me about money management and we just flat bet 2% a game. We are doing okay, nothing spectacular but profitable (if just slightly). We are using a system that was almost soley developed from insights from Mccune's book.

My question is for those who have read his books and used it to handicap baseball games. Do oyu think that the methods used by mccune are still viable today?

Bob McCune

The late Bob McCune wrote several excellent books that IMO are still well worth reading. His common sense approach to handicapping will never be obsolete. He gave the reader plenty of do's and dont's that remain very good advice. I recommend his work highly. I know some of books are out of print but you may be able to find some used copies on Amazon or Ebay, the Gamblers Bookstore in Vegas may have something also.
