Nets needed to foul. Miami's shot goes up with 5 seconds and if its a long rebound or the ball rolls arounf the rim, the nets are screwed. Even if they make both free throws, still only down 3 with time to set up for a decent look at a three.

I could not disagree more. They got unlucky that it took them so long to get the rebound and they STILL had over a second left, plenty of time for a pump fake and shot (Raja Bell didn't even need that much time to tie the late game). In most circumstances they would have gotten the rebound with 3 seconds to go with a 2 or 3 to WIN, not just a 3 to tie.

In that circumstance the coach either decides to foul at the beginning of the shot clock or he plays it out. The last thing he would do is foul with 6 seconds left on the shot clock, which is what Barkley was recommending.

Correct, fouling early would have been fine. I think the decision to foul early is a close one, and I cannot fault the coach either way. IMO, fouling late in the shot clock (after the timeout) when Barkley was recommending it, would have been a terrible strategy.

I think it was far more careless of Nash and Cassell to be launching three pointers so early in the shot clock down the stretch. How many did they take in the final minutes? But hey it was a great game to watch and I hope you both won $

Ok i agree...The absolute best way to play that is to try and steal the inbounds pass and if not, foul immediately. I agree fouling late in the clock (which college kids do all the time in that situation) is the worst way to play it. Also, In the Clippers game, when you are up 3 w/ 3 seconds left, have all 5 guys guard the arc. Absoulutely insane to see them have guys waiting for a rebound after the shot goes up. Uh Clippers, there is no time for any rebounds when a shot is launched from 3 with 3 seconds left.

Yup, bringing a cold Daniel Ewing in to defend Bell was also ridiculous. Bell got off his shot with perfect rythym. I don't understand how the Clippers let the Suns get a rythym shot off there. They should have been viciously defending the 3 point line with their taller guards on the best shooters. The taller guards (Livingston and Ross) could have done a tremendous job of disrupting rythym shots by Nash or Bell because they could have played them tight without the fear of being beaten on the drive, because it did not matter. Instead L.A puts a cold Daniel Ewing in there on the Suns best shooter and essentially plays scared with his hands straight up making sure he doesn't foul . Absolutely ridiculous, and a huge missed opportunity for the Clippers.

By the way I had under (and lost) in Nets Heat and was going to be the Nets to cover but just missed the deadline. I also had Phoenix -2.5 1st half and -4.5 game, so I won those, but lost the under which would have won if it hadn't been for the extra 10 minutes of play in the game. Even having Phoenix minus the points, I still found myself rooting for the Clippers down the stretch (gotta love Casell).

You know your hoops North. He was in decent rythym on that shot and should not have been, and i suspect Dunleavy brought Ewing in because he is (usually) a smart player. As for Casell, a very good ball player who happens to be with the right teams at the right time, and tries like hell to be a good floor leader, but sometimes it looks like his teammates want to just say shut the hell up.
