Sorry if this is a redundant topic, but I haven't had much luck with the search function.

Are there any good threads that someone can point me to about any standard bankroll management requirements regarding bet sizes, bet types, etc. as it relates to the size of your bankroll.

I've always just bet for fun and entertainment, but I've enjoyed the information I've found here and think that obviously if used judiciously, there's potential to slowly make some steady side cash.

Anyhow, I'm familiar with bankroll management from a poker aspect, and also recognize that there are probably varying degrees of bankroll management requirements from professional cappers down to people like me, but any recommendations or information to try to build a roll, but safely fade variance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Since you seem to be in the early stages of wagering on sports, the most common method normally recommended and used by many is to either flat bet the same dollar amount on each game or bet 1% of your bankroll on each game you play. First, you must setup a bankroll that you can afford to lose. If it is $1000, you could either flat bet $10 per game or using the 1% guideline, which is $10 as well. The more experience you get in wagering and building your bankroll, you could consider varying the size of your wagers, but to be successful at doing so, takes time and experience. As to types of bets, the range is large from sides, totals, halves, moneylines, propositions, futures and so on. Money management is the downfall of most who enter this business, so be patient and disciplined and if you can make more winning selections then losing selections, you will start to see your bankroll grow but don't expect it to happen overnight. Winning at sports wagering is not a sprint but a marathon, sometimes a lifetime for some. So once again, only bet what you can afford to lose and best of luck in building your bankroll.

oldman ted is right on.... you need proper money management, use flat betting of 1-2%, and don't chase losers or raise your bets when you hit a little hot streak, poor money management is what kills most sports bettors. good luck
