Larry Allen retired. With the O line getting younger and younger, this might even out the positive addition of Mike Martz.

Martz usually isn't a positive for the run game and it looks like Alex Smith is another huge bust a number one pick at qb. Although, maybe with the awful Smith, Martz will be smart enough to give Gore more carries than he got this year but still a mediocre rb on such a bad offense.

I don't think Smith is a bust at all. He's had a different offensive coordinator every single year he's been in the league and played more of the games this year with injuries that messed up his throwing motion. Last year when he was healthy, he showed lots of promise but then they got a new offensive coordinator that tamed down the offense and with the injuries figured in, Smith had no shot this season. Next year, I think we'll see Alex Smith shake those bust labels.

martz play calls like he is playing madden for ps3. it will be 4th and 18 in the 1st qrt and he will go for it or fake punt. pretty cool sometimes but with his play calling he is for sure always looking for the big play. always shooting for the endzone and tryin to put points on the board
