Why is Henin-Hardenne such a big favorite over Clijsters? Is it purely on the ankle issue?
Looking at their form and their head-to-heads, Clisters is superior on hard courts 6-3, and last year they played 8 times, each winning 4.
It seems to me, the ankle issue must be swaying the linesmakers.
Looking at Justine's recent form, she hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire. And although she has looked dominant at times here, she's also faced awful competition.
Outside of Davenport (whom she was down 0-4 by the way), she's faced NO ONE. Clisters gritted out a performance against a likely top-5 Myskina. She hasn't faced a bunch of world beaters but Schnyder, Farina-Elia, and Safina are certainly better in class than Zuluaga, Santangello, and Kuznetzova.
Clisters hasn't dropped a set and mowed through every one of her opponents.
Now, I must make a disclaimer in that I have Clijsters on a future wager, and I could hedge, but I'm still on the fence because I can really see Clijsters winning here.
