EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Sept. 10 (UPI) -- Los Angeles prospect Jared Aulin will miss most of the season following reconstructive surgery on his left shoulder, the team announced Wednesday.

Aulin injured the shoulder Thursday during a game against the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim as part of the teams' rookie tournament. Team physician Dr. Ronald S. Kvitne performed the procedure and said Aulin will miss four to six months.

A 2000 second-round draft pick of Colorado, Aulin was acquired in the February 2001 trade that sent former Norris Trophy winner Rob Blake to the Avalanche. He made his NHL debut last season and had two goals and two assists in 17 games.
