Atlanta mayor issues coronavirus warning for people going to nail salons

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms put out a warning today for anyone getting a manicure at the state’s newly reopened salons.

“If you’re getting your nails done right now, please share these noon numbers with your manicurist,” Bottoms tweeted at 1:30 p.m. along with a chart showing the Peach State’s latest stats on coronavirus deaths and infections. She added the hashtag #StayHomeGeorgia.

The numbers show deaths hit 904, an increase of 34 percent over a week ago, and cases reached 22,695, up 28 percent in a week.

Gov. Brian Kemp allowed nail and hair salons, tattoo parlors, gyms and bowling alleys to open up Friday despite President Trump saying it was too early to lift lock down orders.

Some state residents flocked to the newly open businesses.

But Bottoms said on CNN Friday night that nothing had changed and residents should stay home.

“We are not on the other side of this,” she said. “It’s like we are in a tunnel, and rather than walking straight toward the light, we’re spinning around in circles. We’ll never get to the light if we don’t continue to do what we’ve done thus far, and that’s to separate ourselves socially from one another.”

All Democrats and their media partners want to extend the lockdowns as long as possible when peope are getting even more desperate... to demonstrate socialism in action, BIG government will help you, they will give you money, they know what to do, they will take care of your health, capitalism is bad...

Sure, fund failing states that have mismanaged their states for decades like Illinois and California, pay their unfunded pensions while we are at it.

If we let them do this, too many citizens will embrace socialism, be grateful for living like obedient peasants.

Sure, fund failing states that have mismanaged their states for decades like Illinois and California, pay their unfunded pensions while we are at it.

If we let them do this, too many citizens will embrace socialism, be grateful for living like obedient peasants.

As I stated in a previous thread...as these states reopen, the media will be relentless with their coverage of how many additional people get infected and how many additional people will die (even though you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that these numbers should come up some). They will disregard any benefit to families given an opportunity to put food on their table and the impact to the economy. And the overall numbers on this in relation to the total population will continue to be no more significant than many other infectious diseases. Being rational isn't in the media's game plan. Nielsen ratings are though.

They will disregard any benefit to families given an opportunity to put food on their table and the impact to the economy. And the overall numbers on this in relation to the total population will continue to be no more significant than many other infectious diseases. Being rational isn't in the media's game plan. The media will be on a roller coaster ride thru the Nov. elections.....it's gonna be insanity at its finest.

I live in a state with mismanaged/frothy pension system and a burgeoning welfare state and I'm not defending it, but why shouldn't the federal government bail them out if they've been net payers into the treasury? Their $ is basically bailing out other states every single year.

It is a state like Kentucky that has messed up finances and takes from the federal government that is more problematic to me.
