First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics apply. Also, common sense would apply. Namely the idea that nothing arises without a cause...especially one talking about something with specified complexity. Every painting has a painter. Every book has an author and so on. If you deny this, then you can say something like "This vastly detailed and complex universe exploded out of nothing 14 billion years ago. And, this explosion had no cause".

Takes a lot of faith to believe something like that.

well, the Theologians who believe the bible would answer your question this way:

God is, by definition, a non-contingent, eternal being who created everything we see and everything we dont see. If something is eternal, it needs no cause. It has always been.

Things that are not eternal need causes. If the universe is eternal, it does not need a cause. But, the evidence suggests that the universe is not eternal (see Second Law of Thermodynamics)...therefore, it needs a cause. God, by definition, is eternal. Therefore, He needs no cause.

Of course, if man created God then, he can make him non-eternal...contingent...fairy tale, etc.
