Not going for 2 then letting 15 seconds run off the clock before calling timeout?

I was just about to say to myself that he did something smart by not calling to after FD with with only 2 timeouts left which is the correct thing to do . Then all of a sudden the idiot called timeout 14 seconds later

It's not the correct thing to do. They ran the ball. You have to call timeout immediately there after first down. Ya, they probably aren't throwing, but they ran it and the clock is running. There is a chance they throw it on 2nd or 3rd down. There is no chance calling a timeout there hurts you.

If you only have 2 TOs with 2 mins left it's more then ok to not call TO after first down and then use the 2 after 2nd and 3rd

It's kind of like being all in AQ suited vs AQ unsuited. Likely the same result but can only get hurt by not calling it.

Thanks for writing this thread. I couldn't believe they didn't go for 2, but I was even more shocked and upset the announcers didn't even mention it. When they didn't talk about it right away I couldn't believe it, but I figured they would bring it up for sure right after the commercial. I was SHOCKED they never did! Full disclosure: I was one of the unlucky ones that had Arizona State at a pick em.
