Willie do you know anything about Carte Blanche?

Azzuro looks great btw

never heard of Carte Blanche. Just looked them up, they seat on 14 people per night and it's a multi hour experience which everybody loves

I'm sure you need reservations, I'm going to check them out

PS: my wife said Fly Fishbone is where they have (a few) tables in the water. I went with Barefoot because of the name, but both places have great food and great sunsets

Or the Joran van der Sloot How To Get Away With Murder museum...

On on the tour we took, they would drive by and point at main points during that whole thing...they showed the lighthouse,Joran house..

I'm thinking about checking them out or two fools and a bull which looks like a similar experience.

We went with barefoot over fishbone because we didn't necessarily want to drive 45 minutes to get to fishbone. Both get almost identical reviews

I just made reservations for Carte Blanche. They only had seatings for two people on August 12 & 14, every other day had no availability

Have to tell the other 2 couples that will be with us for that week they're on their own for that night :)

I couldn't do it with Carte Blanche. My wife and I just aren't comfortable with the communal seating type environment. You will have to let me know how that experience goes

I've got reservations set up at.......

Pampered in Paradise at the Hyatt
Barefoot
Madame Janettes
Azurro

Thanks again for the advice

Aruba is amazing, the restaurants and the water and the climate are as good as it gets

the casinos are small, by American standards, but OK. They're just an extra benefit, but not the reason you go to Aruba

Party boats, sunset cruises, private boats, rent a car for a day and drive to baby beach and the national park (make sure you rent a jeep for off road travel)

drive to the light house, eat at the Italian restaurant Judge and BAS mentioned (again, sunset would be best)

Flying Fishbone
Barefoot (get a table in the water)
Madame Janette's
Zeerovers (fried catch of the day, no preset menu)
El Gaucho Argentinian Steakhouse (downtown)
Smokey Joes
Azzurro (nice Italian)

all great restaurants with a variety of cuisine

truth is, there are a ton of great places to eat, I'll do as many as I can when I visit

near the water, on the water, in the water......................................their seafood is the best

Willie, since it's clear you've been there many times, can I ask you what's easier on the Island?. To bring a bunch of cash or to rely mostly on cards? I'm not sure if a lot of the local shops/restaurants take cards but at same time are U.S dollars accepted everywhere?

Thanks in advance

I'm a cash guy, but they're very "westernized" :), credit and debit are as easy to use there as it is here, save for a handful of places that take cash only

and they use USD just as if it's their own currency. Most everything is priced in USD, from menus to tours to most shops.

even the casinos are USD

so do what you usually do

How was carte blanche?

I just got back madame janettes, great food but terrible service. It was the first time all trip where I didn't tip on top of the 17 percent gratuity

Barefoot was fantastic but the best food we had all week was pampered in paradise at the hyatt. Plus it was just an awesome experience. Literally just my wife and I at a single table on the beach. I can't say enough about the hyatt. Fantastic resort all around and they have gone above and beyond for our one year anniversary. We walked all the way down to the ritz (the other hotel we were considering) and we are 100 percent sure we made the right choice.

Aruba is my favorite tropical destination I've ever been, and it's not even close. We did the Around Aruba utv excursion which I highly recommend. Driving up and down hills and over rocks to see some astounding views. Only negative of the whole trip was getting my ass kicked in the casino all three times I went.

Tomorrow's our last day and we have breakfast at lindas dutch pancakes and dinner reservations at Azzuro. We plan to come back to aruba every few years. Let me know if you discovered any other great restaurants for us to put on our list for next time.

Just got back from the casino. It's been kicking my ass this whole week! I can't catch a break in there.

Mjs was packed but I think our waitress was new or something. After about 20-25 minutes of not seeing her we all of a sudden had a new server. Then the new server took my credit card to the back and didnt come back for 15 minutes.
