At least 13 Iraqis are reported to have been killed in the town of Falluja when US forces opened fire on demonstrators on Monday night.
There are conflicting reports as to what happened in the town, which lies 50 kilometres (35 miles) west of Baghdad.

A US spokesman said soldiers started shooting after people in the crowd fired on them - but Iraqi witnesses said the protesters were unarmed.

Tch.
The amount of bullets that get fired at US personell during protests is growing, and yet not even one wounded soldier is recorded.

These Iraqies need to learn how to shoot straight, the Americans dont have any problems, they get lots of kills when they fire back..

Never mind, lots of small public massacres are far more acceptable than one great big massacre.

Its all relative, and colonialism is a tough business.
Us Brits had to be brutal to the American colonials to keep them in line.
Shoot a few here, a few there, just to show 'em who's in charge....

History records that this approach made a lasting impression on the local people in the New World.

Expect more of this to happen. Nothing out of the ordinary in such a scenario...

DM,
Sure it's to be expected when Saddam supporters shoot at US troops expect them to be killed by the US troops.

Colonialism ? I think you are seeing it from the wrong angle radiofree...this is self defense. It can happen during a campaign, it can happen home, it can happen anywhere.

It was the same in Mosul, not one slightly wounded american soldier.
Maybe a broken fingernail or two tho.

I think the US is using a new weapon.

Voodoo magic that makes those enemy bullets miss.

The Brits in the South seem to be lucky, no-one shoots at them, even tho they run the 2nd biggest city in Iraq.

At least the US isnt totally clueless.
The Karbala festival, with around a million pilgrims, was discreetly avoided by US forces.

For a change we're in square agreement. That is some mighty powerful mojo the 82nd Airborne is carrying around with them. They estimated 25 out of the 200 protesters were armed with AK-47s. Why won't anyone take a moment to do the math on that? Not even a nick?

Okidoki.

I need to start getting my voodoo dolls from whichever houdan has the DoD contract; the best I've been able to do with mine so far was get W to choke on a pretzel.

"you guys suck at nation-building, maybe you should learn a lesson from the brits"

Please, Brits are still mad cuz England was the mother that died giving birth to the States. Now the U.S. is the world leader while England has basically lost everything it colonialized.

Every country has people with nothing to do but protest. The left in America is a prime example. I can't believe the soldiers put up with this crap and more Iraqi lefties weren't shot.

The soldiers uniforms are made of Kevlar, which repels most small arms fire.
