This is a home-and-home series with the first taking place on Friday night in Mile High followed by a date in the desert on Sunday. This has been a season to forget for the Coyotes, soon to be eliminated from postseason contention, while the Avalanche are within striking distance of first place in the Central Division.
Obviously, this is a lopsided mismatch on paper but we should also understand that the Coyotes are shockingly respectable at home (20-11-3) but downright horrendous when on the highway (7-22-9) which is where they’ll be on Friday night.
The last time these teams met was just two weeks ago when the Avs claimed a 3-2 overtime decision at Ball Arena. It was a hotly contested battle that saw Colorado outshoot Arizona by a 44-20 margin, and had it not been for the outstanding performance of Coyotes goalie, Connor Ingram, it would have likely been a blowout by the Avs. Expect that to happen this time around.
